When someone asks if this has been the craziest NFL season for making survivor pool picks, the answer is a resounding yes. Just unbelievable. If you find yourself still alive in your survivor pool, what an amazing feat. Many have followed some of the best survivor pool strategy and failed, so the fact that you’re still going is fantastic.

After last week, I am officially out. My last survivor pool pick was bounced after nine grueling weeks. Allow me to share the quick but sad tale.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that, once you’ve officially advanced from one week to the next, you always set a pick as a placeholder. It’s part of what your best survivor pool strategy should be. You never know when life is going to throw you a crazy curveball, so rather than potentially miss your pick, you at last have something there. You can always go back and adjust it if you need.

This past week, I set the New Orleans Saints as my survivor pool pick placeholder simply because they were facing the Carolina Panthers, and I had them available. I always go back after the Friday practice reports and NFL injury report are released and make my final decision, even though this one seemed like a relative no-brainer despite the Saints being on the road.

Welp, life got in the way – family emergency -- and while I was able to make an appearance on SiriusXM on Sunday morning, it was a quick hour and I was unable to set any of my fantasy football lineups, make any last-minute adjustments to my pick ‘em pools and I did not go back and double-check my survivor pool pick. The Saints weren’t a horrible pick, but had I seen the injury report over the weekend, I probably would have swapped them out for the Bengals. I did not. Woe is me.

It certainly is a shame. No doubt about it. You never want to go down like that. But there’s no going back and nothing else I can do. Does that mean I can’t help guide you with best survivor pool strategy practices or suggest who to use for your survivor pool picks? Of course not. So, let’s get to the top picks for NFL Week 10.

Best NFL Survivor Pool Strategy For 2024 NFL Week 10

At this point in time, there are no hidden secrets with regard to the best survivor pool strategy. It is what it is. You’re looking for biggest point spreads, money lines with the greatest amount of juice and if you can use a home team, that’s what you want to do. It’s not rocket science.

Last week, four of the five picks I gave out in the article hit and those four picks all fit the criteria we use for the best survivor pool strategy. Again, another reason I would have switched off the Saints, but at some point, I’ll stop crying over the spilt milk. So, let’s not waste any more time or energy with worthless words and just get to the top survivor pool picks for NFL Week 10.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks For Week 10

Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5 Home Favorite; -400 Money Line)

The Chiefs are 8-0 on the season and their defense has been absolutely spectacular this year. They’ve beaten the Broncos in 16 or their last 17 meetings and while yes, these Broncos are certainly looking better than they have over the last several years, they just don’t have the firepower to keep pace on the scoreboard.

Double-check the status of Patrick Mahomes’ ankle, but the last report I saw had him practicing in full on a Wednesday which is typically a day off for veterans. That tells me he is ready to go.

Chicago Bears (-6.5 Home Favorite; -275 Money Line)

This one has a bit of risk that comes with it, simply because the Bears offense has been a little stuck in the mud lately and Caleb Williams has not been lighting up some of the bad defenses he’s faced like we thought he would.

But the Patriots are not a good team, especially on offense and the Bears should be able to beat them handily. Chicago is likely to rely on D’Andre Swift and the ground game early to let the passing attack open up, but the key in this matchup is the Bears defense. You won’t get much in the way of opportunity to use them again.

Los Angeles Chargers (-7.5 Home Favorite; -375 Money Line)

Another page taken out of the “defense wins championships” book as the Chargers defense has been dominant both against the run and the pass. The Titans have struggled all season long and they’re going to try and go back to Will Levis this week which is dangerous.

I opened the season as a big fan of Levis’ arm and potential, but it’s been a terrible season and we’re going to see the continued growing pains and mistakes of a rookie quarterback. You should be pretty confident in this pick.

Atlanta Falcons (-3.5 Road Favorite; -200 Money Line)

One road team we will look at this week is the Falcons and yes, even in a divisional matchup. The mystique of playing in the Superdome is not what it once was and after seeing the Saints trade away their best corner in Marshon Lattimore, it is obvious they are now a team playing for a better 2025 draft pick.

The Falcons offense is firing on all cylinders, so I would be confident. I will say they do have a few soft matchups down the road, but if you don’t have any of the previous teams available, Atlanta is my next favorite.

Best of luck in Week 10 and I’ll see you for more survivor pool picks and the best survivor pool strategy in Week 11!
