Jets vs. Dolphins Predictions For NFL Week 14, Sunday 12/8
It may sound surprising that this AFC East rivalry has playoff implications given that we have two teams with losing records, but Miami is far from out of it. The tail end of their schedule is quite favorable, and despite losing on Thanksgiving Day, they have been looking quite solid since QB Tua Tagovailoa returned.
Speaking of that Turkey Day loss, the Dolphins will also have the rest advantage coming into this matchup. They should also be entering it with a much better mindset with the Jets having fallen to 3-9 after blowing a 21-7 lead last Sunday. We’re predicting a two-prong approach from Miami with their RB duo to get back in the win column.
We’d recommend taking Miami for any survivor pool you’re still alive in, but of course, we’ll provide more value than their money line for the best bet from our Jets vs. Dolphins predictions!
New York Jets: The NFL’s Enigma
Our Jets storyline is almost always based around the Tuesday Pat McAfee interview with QB Aaron Rodgers, but he makes it nearly impossible not to be. That continued this week with the announcement of the new Netflix three-part series called Enigma based on the past year or so of Rodgers’ life.
New York has fired just about everyone possible at this point, so we don’t have that to focus on, and they’re simply not a postseason-relevant team at this point. Given they’ve been one of the biggest disappointments of the entire league this season, they can begin looking forward to the Enigma series.
Miami Dolphins: Finishing Strong
We briefly noted that Miami has a favorable tail end of the schedule, and that was no exaggeration. Not only do they get to play the Jets twice within their last five games, but they also have clashes with the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers.
Those last two would have once seemed very daunting, but now, they are absolutely very winnable games. Houston has been wildly inconsistent, and the 49ers injuries have them set to finish with a losing record! The Dolphins winning out would have them a 10-7 come season’s end, a very possible playoff record.
Jets vs. Dolphins Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
We’re sticking with the standard markets for the best bet from our Jets vs. Dolphins predictions, and you can see the latest Jets vs. Dolphins odds at FanDuel Sportsbook below:
- Point Spread: New York Jets +6 (-112) vs. Miami Dolphins -6 (-108)
- Money Line: New York Jets (+205) vs. Miami Dolphins (-250)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 45 (-110) vs. Under 45 (-110)
Jets vs. Dolphins Best Bet: Miami -6 (-108 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
We mentioned that Miami could be a great target for a survivor pool pick, which also means that you could use their money line as part of a two-team parlay for this Sunday if that sounds good to you. Regardless, we’re willing to focus our Jets vs. Dolphins predictions on the point spread with it being less than a touchdown.
Of course, that’s a significant number in football, and our projections have the Dolphins as nearly double-digit favorites. That’s not something that we normally generate, but the Jets really are down bad. Jokes aside with the Enigma series, the namesake defines the entire team, not just Rodgers.
He was supposed to turn the franchise around, but the same trend looks set to continue. That would be the fact that New York has not only been losing to Miami, but more importantly for our purposes, they’re an abysmal 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 meetings with the Dolphins.
We know that Miami is also coming off a loss, but they have every right to be optimistic for an AFC Wild Card run given the schedule that we outlined above. New York’s struggles against Miami have led to 30-0 and 34-13 losses, and while Rodgers was injured for those meetings last season, it’s clear that he is no longer in MVP form.
If the Seattle Seahawks can travel across the country for a 10 AM “body clock” game and shut out the Jets in the second half, New York’s trip down to South Beach doesn’t seem like a party-worthy one. Therefore, we’re taking Miami -6 (-108 at FanDuel Sportsbook) as the top pick from our Jets vs. Dolphins predictions
Jets vs. Dolphins Injury Report & Latest News
Don’t make any Jets vs. Dolphins picks, or picks on any game for that matter, without keeping tabs of the NFL injury report from Fantasy Alarm. In terms of this AFC East rivalry, the biggest injury news would be Rodgers and LB C.J. Mosley for the Jets and OT Terron Armstead for the Dolphins.
