Buccaneers vs. Chiefs Predictions for Monday Night Football, NFL Week 9

With the Chiefs left as the only remaining undefeated team remaining in the NFL, let alone the fact that they’re back-to-back Super Bowl champs, it’s no shock that they’re massively favored at home on MNF. Of course, the situation in Tampa also lends to that.

The Bucs have had their eyes set on an NFC South title, but recent injuries have caused serious turmoil, and they also came in a prime time game. Two weeks ago on Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens, they saw their star WR duo of Chris Godwin and Mike Evans go down.

Naturally, that has to play a major factor in our Buccaneers vs. Chiefs predictions, and we love the best bet that we have for you. First though, more from each team!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Overcoming Injuries

As we just mentioned above, there is no storyline in Tampa greater than the injury bug. While it may be just about all folks are talking about when it comes to the Bucs, it’s because of just how significant the losses are.

While we know that Godwin is done for the season, Evans’ hamstring injury isn’t one that should sideline him for the year. However, we have also learned over the years just how much those soft tissue injuries can linger.

The shining hope for Tampa and their fans is the massive emergence of TE Cade Otton - he’s had 17 catches for 181 yards and two touchdowns over the past two weeks!

Kansas City Chiefs: Dealing For DeAndre

The Chiefs haven’t been without their injuries either - theirs just haven’t been as recent. Starting RB Isaiah Pacheco went down early in the season, causing the team to bring in an old face in veteran RB Kareem Hunt.

Similarly, WR Rashee Rice has also been sidelined, and some may have even forgotten that WR Hollywood Brown was injured in the preseason. Ultimately, that has led to Kansas City acquiring veteran WR DeAndre Hopkins via trade with the Tennessee Titans. They know that they’re still very much in their Super Bowl window and would love to win as many as possible with head coach Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes leading the squad.

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines

It’s about that time to finally get into our best bet and some other suggestions for Buccaneers vs. Chiefs picks, but first, the latest Buccaneers vs. Chiefs odds at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs Predictions: Under 45.5 Points (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Before we get into where we’re locking in our best bet, we have a few takeaways from our Buccaneers vs. Chiefs predictions that you can use to make the best Buccaneers vs. Chiefs picks in your eyes.

If anything, we’d be taking the Bucs side of the point spread, as the Chiefs have no issues winning games, but covering huge point spreads (more than a touchdown) has not exactly been their calling card. Take just last week for example. They were favorites by the same amount over the Las Vegas Raiders but allowed them to backdoor cover in a 27-20 victory.

With that in mind, you could also create a teaser with our best bet if you don’t want to wait out just a backdoor cover. That means you could get the Bucs +14.5, which is over a relatively key number of 14, or two touchdowns. That could be done in conjunction with our play of under 46 points.

Before we even got into our Buccaneers vs. Chiefs predictions, we stated that we loved our angle, and that’s because our projections have this game at around 43 points. That’s a significant difference from the listed total, and it even opened as high as 47.5 points.

Even still, the decrease hasn’t been enough in our eyes, especially with how much more the Chiefs have been relying on their defense to win games. That has become the case the past couple of seasons now and continues to become more apparent.

While they allowed Las Vegas to backdoor cover with 20 points last week, they had allowed just 18, 13, 10 and 17 points in the four games prior. In fact, KC has allowed more than 20 points just once all season! With the Bucs now depleted, it’s difficult to imagine that trend changing on MNF.

Mahomes and company will likely score somewhere in the 20’s, but not enough for the entire game total to reach 46 or more. Therefore, the best bet from our Buccaneers vs. Chiefs predictions is under 45.5 points (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
