Talk about two teams trending in different directions. The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off a bye week, will have A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert all back from injury. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns have been riddled with injury and saddled by poor quarterback play from DeShaun Watson.

With all that in consideration, it’s no surprise that this one is expected to be fairly one-sided. But big spreads like that can make predictions like Sunday’s Browns vs. Eagles matchup more difficult to make than ever. Let’s dig into the info we have and see if there is a best bet to be made!

Browns vs. Eagles Predictions For NFL Week 6, Sunday 10/6

Since the Browns are AFC and the Eagles are NFC, these teams only play every four years unless they meet in the Super Bowl. And the Browns have literally never appeared in a Super Bowl, so we know the last time they squared up was 2020.

The Browns managed to beat the Jaguars in Week 2 but have lost to the Cowboys, Giants, Raiders, and Commanders. The Eagles beat the Packers and Saints while losing to the Falcons and Buccaneers right before the bye. They’ll meet this week in Philadelphia on Sunday at 1 PM ET.

Cleveland Browns: Time To Give Up On Deshaun Watson?

Here’s how good Deshaun Watson was for the Houston Texans - despite his atrocious play with the Browns, he is still a top five quarterback of all time in fantasy points per game. Unfortunately, whether it’s due to the shoulder injury or some sort of mental block, the Cleveland version of Watson has been a complete failure. And it might be time for a change.

There’s really no easy way to get out of the contract. But, at a certain point, the Browns may need to start thinking about their future. If Deshaun Watson can’t put together reasonable drives, you need to get Jameis Winston in there.

You are not only trying to figure out if Winston is the guy for the future, but you’ll also have another variable to figure out if Deshaun Watson truly is the problem or if the entire team is simply that bad. The thing about bad offense is that you don’t give your defense time to rest.

So, it’s hard for them to be great under those conditions. Throw in the myriad injuries the Browns have suffered so far this year and they’ve really just been middle of the pack so far, despite being a great unit on paper.

Philadelphia Eagles: Bye Week To The Rescue

The Philadelphia Eagles were already down AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith going into Week 4. Then Dallas Goedert got nicked up towards the end of that game. Usually, teams don’t want the earliest bye week of any team, but the Week 5 bye came at the perfect time for the Eagles.

The only limited participant the Eagles had in practice Thursday was Nakobe Dean, and, on Friday, everyone was a full participant. So, the Browns will face the like of Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley with no injury designation coming off a fresh week of rest.

The Eagles defense has not been spectacular thus far. In fact, they are ranked 27th in DVOA per FTN Football. This has generally led to shootout conditions for the Eagles, but the Browns would need to keep up their end of the bargain for that.

Browns vs. Eagles Predictions: Over 43 (-105 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Call me crazy, but I think the Browns force the Eagles to play here. Whether it’s Deshaun Watson or Jameis Winston with a halftime adjustment, I think the Browns quietly have the pieces with Amari Cooper, David Njoku, Jerry Jeudy, and Jerome Ford to actually move the ball on this struggling Eagles defense.

This line, with a 9.5 point spread and a 42.5 O/U, leaves the Browns with one of the lowest implied point totals on the slate at 16.5 points. I have no doubt that the Eagles can put up points on this Browns defense and I would not be shocked to see them win by double digit points and cover.

But I also believe the Browns can actually hold up their end of the bargain here and put up some points on the Eagles. So, I’m going with the over in this one.
