The 2024 NFL season continues and after an up-and-down first week of the season, my NFL best bets for Week 2 have already gotten off to a great start.

My NFL picks for the Bills/Dolphins game were on-point and it would have been a clean sweep had Tua Tagovailoa not gone down in the third quarter and we saw a little bit more scoring.

But that’s what making NFL predictions and betting is all about. It’s not all lollipops, rainbows and sunshine.

NFL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets For Week 2 Sunday, 9/15

This week, we’ve got a lot more to work with when making our decisions. It’s not so much about the historical data between the teams, although some of it may come into play, as much as it is watching what they did in the first week. With fewer and fewer players playing in the preseason, the first week becomes more of a tune-up for them.

What we are looking for most is what the coaching tendencies are. We have eight new head coaches with 16 new offensive coordinators this season, so getting the opportunity to really study game-plans and personnel packages helps us a ton. We take all of that information, check in with the latest Vegas odds and lines and get ready to plant our flags into the NFL best bets for Week 2

NFL Week 2 Predictions: Sunday, September 15th

Before we dive into the actual NFL best bets for Week 2 for this week, it’s both helpful and important to gather as much information as possible.

Our weekly Game Previews are a must-read each week and you should be checking in with all of the NFL content we provide here on Fantasy Alarm. It doesn’t matter if you’re reading the season-long stuff or the NFL DFS content as they are all going to be helpful. Gather the information and make an informed NFL prediction

Of course, there are certain other intangibles that will be brought up here and, in some cases, we will go back in time and look at the history between the two teams. So, let’s not waste any more time and get to our NFL best bets for Week 2.

Steelers vs. Broncos Best Bet: Sunday, September 15th

The Broncos at home in the month of September has long been an interesting bet. Teams routinely struggle with the altitude early in the season and heading into last year, Denver was 11-5-3 against the spread in September over a 10-year span.

Last season was their first under head coach Sean Payton and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and the team, especially Russell Wilson struggled which brought us to 11-7-3 ATS in September. Now in Year 2, even with a rookie quarterback under center, I am going back to the well to back the Broncos.

As much as I would like to say it has everything to do with growth for Denver, it’s more an indictment of the Steelers and what is happening with them. Justin Fields was a last-minute replacement for Russell Wilson and he does not look comfortable in Arthur Smith’s scheme right now.

Not to mention, he’s got one legitimate receiving weapon in George Pickens who will be blanketed by Patrick Surtain, so the primary goal of the Broncos defense will be to stifle Fields and stop the run. I believe they can do it. I’m tempted to take the Broncos money line at plus-odds, but I will happily just take the points.

Chargers vs. Panthers Prediction: Sunday, September 15th

We got a pretty good look at the Los Angeles Chargers last week and their offensive scheme was exactly what we expected. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards split the carries pretty evenly and Justin Herbert was efficient, only needing to throw 26 times in their win over the Raiders.

Now they face a Carolina team that looked lost against the Saints last week and allowed 180 rushing yards to them. Jim Harbaugh is salivating here and we anticipate another heavy dose of the run.

The Panthers, under new head coach Dave Canales, were also expected to be a heavy rushing team, but they fell behind so quickly to the Saints, they were forced to let Bruce Young chuck it around the field which led to a number of three-and-outs.

I expect Canales to back to what he knows and that is to establish the run from the onset. The Chargers only gave up 71 rushing yards last week, but they also played from ahead, forcing the raiders into a more pass-heavy scheme. Look for the Panthers to try and run heavy early on and take the pressure off Young.

With such a heavy ground game for both teams, the clock should be running, and we should see the teams grinding it out. That, in turn, helps keep the score down. And should the Panthers struggle offensively again, it’s not like the Chargers are going to push the over on this game all on their own.

Giants vs. Commanders Best Bet: Sunday, September 15th

We’ve got an NFC East rivalry game here and while I usually like to avoid these, it’s pretty easy to see that these two franchises are moving in different directions. Both are rebuilding, but the Commanders are in a much better spot right now than the Giants and the key is the quarterback play.

Jayden Daniels may not have had the best game in his debut, but we know what he can do as a rushing quarterback, we know he’s got great receiving weapons and he’s also got a supportive ground game behind him. The Commanders are definitely a work-in-progress, but this is also a much softer match-up for them than last week against Tampa Bay.

The contrarian in me almost wants to take the Giants because the public money is so heavy on Washington, but sometimes you just have to eat the chalk. Daniel Jones is struggling, the offensive line is still pretty rough and Jones’ best weapon, Malik Nabers, landed on the injury report late in the week with a knee issue.

Is it a game of cat-and-mouse by Brian Daboll, knowing that Washington corner Benjamin St-Juste is so bad? Probably not. You can err on the side of caution and just take the Commanders money line at -125 if you like, but I think the play of Daniels leads Washington to a home victory by at least two or three points.
