NFL Week 2 concludes with another fantastic primetime matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. That mean we have one more opportunity to make a few bucks for the week with our NFL Best Bets for Monday Night Football.

While the Eagles moved past the stigma of their 2023 late-season collapse with a big win over the Green Bay Packers last Friday in Brazil, the Falcons have a lot of work to do if they want to be considered top contenders in the NFC. First off, Kirk Cousins needs to shed the label that he can’t compete in primetime.

He needs a big, “you like that” type of game. The Falcons, in general, need a big game here after they struggled so much against their former coach. If they want to wash the stank of Arthur Smith off, they need a big moment and our NFL picks help you see in what direction they turn.

NFL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets for Monday Night Football, 9/16

All-time, the Eagles have the series edge over the Falcons with a 21-15-1 record, but these teams haven’t faced each other since 2021 and both teams have gone through significant makeovers since that September game where the Eagles won 32-6. Have these transformations gone in such a way that makes our NFL predictions easier to make? Maybe.

Last week, the Eagles not only won outright, but also covered the spread with ease after posting 34 points. The Falcons, on the other hand, lost and failed to cover the four-point spread, but more importantly, failed miserably on the offensive front.

The big question we have to ask ourselves before we make out NFL picks is, “do we believe that Kirk Cousins is healthy?” He really struggled with his footwork last week and it appeared as if he needed more time to recover from his Achilles injury. Lets see how that affects our NFL best bets for Monday Night Football.

Monday Night Football Prediction: Monday, September 16th

Are you ready to talk some game flow? Establishing your potential game script is the key to figuring out which way you want to go with your NFL best bets for Monday Night Football.

The offensive firepower for the Eagles is definitely one to watch in this game. As evidenced by his outstanding Week 1 performance, Saquon Barkleyis feeling very comfortable in Kellen Moore’s offense and the power-run is going to continue to be featured. The Falcons gave up a combined 90 yards to the Steelers running backs last week and another 57 to Justin Fields, so you can expect a ton of RPO work from the Eagles in this match-up.

If the Eagles can establish the run early, things are going to get real tough for Atlanta. They did a nice job enhancing their pass-rush with the addition of Matthew Judon, but he and Grady Jarrett are going o need some serious help from the rest of the front-seven if they are going to want to contain the ground game. If they don’t, then the play-action downfield for Jalen Hurts is going to be ridiculous. The word on the street is that A.J. Brown was dealing with hamstring tightness and he is listed as questionable, but DeVonta Smith should be able to take over as the alpha if needed. Support from tight end Dallas Goedert and Jahan Dotson will also lend a hand.

For Atlanta, again, it comes down to Cousins and his health/mobility. If he is hindered, then the team is going to need to REALLY rely on Bijan Robinson to get things going. The Steelers did a good job limiting him to just 68 yards on 18 carries, but the Eagles struggled to stop the run, as they coughed up 163 rushing yards to the Packers. If Bijan gets going, the Falcons could control the clock and the game-script. Bijan also helps out in the passing attack as well, another aspect of the Falcons’ offense we need to see on display this week.

With Cousins struggling so much last week, it hindered the production of Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Darnell Mooney. People will be looking for short passes to Ray-Ray McCloud again, but if Cousins doesn’t get the primary targets involved, Atlanta has no chance at all. The Eagles defense showed just how vulnerable it can be, based on what we saw regarding the Packers moving the ball, so when looking to make your NFL picks, ask yourself if you believe in Cousins. Depending on your answer, so goes the way of your NFL prediction for this game.

Falcons vs. Eagles Best Bet: Monday, September 16th

Making the right NFL prediction for this game is going to be quite interesting. Do we believe the Eagles have gotten over the hump and are ready to roll? Are the Falcons as bad as they looked against Pittsburgh last week? The Eagles are favored by six but the public money is apparently into buying that additional half-point and taking the Falcons as a Monday Night road-dog.

Typically, I’m a big fan of fading the public but when looking at where I wanted to go even before I saw where the public money was, I was in on taking the Falcons and the points. Everyone is so down on Cousins, especially in primetime, that my contrarian-self told me to back him. We’ll grab the extra half-point to play it safe.

If I’m backing the Falcons enough to say they can cover a 6.5-point spread, then I have to believe they will put up some pints in this one. I already know the Eagles will as their offensive firepower looks really strong, even if A.J. Brown is out or limited. So, If the Eagles can put up maybe 25-30 points in this one and the Falcons are going to keep it close, then I guess we like the over, don’t we?
