Welcome to the NFL Week 10 edition of the Fantasy Football Mailbag. This is a crucial time of the season where everyone is jockeying for position, whether it’s to improve your seeding for the fantasy playoffs or to actually punch that ticket to the big dance. Making the right decision for your Week 10 fantasy football start/sits is imperative and I am here to help.

Before we get to the questions for this week, just a note of thanks to all of you. I’ve posted on social media and in our Discord that I’ve been tending to a family emergency and the support has been nothing short of amazing.

Many of us play in leagues that have an entrance fee, whether it’s high-stakes or just a few bucks among friends, and the level of understanding from all of you has been overwhelming. We always say, “family first” and the outpour of love from this #FAmily has been tremendous. My family is getting through this, and your understanding is appreciated.

I promise to return that support in any way I can, so let’s skip out on the rest of the introduction and get right to the questions for NFL Week 10.

NFL Week 10 Fantasy Football Advice: Start/Sit, Waivers & Trades

Patrick R. Is Wondering...

  • Who is Tylan Wallace and is he someone to add from waivers? I’m in a 16-team league.

I woke up Friday morning to find this question in my email, so I figured I would throw it in right from the start. I get that in a 16-team league, your waiver wire is looking pretty bleak, but you have to chalk this Thursday Night Football performance up to right place, right time, right circumstances and I have a very tough time believing we will ever see this again.

I don’t want to take anything away from the fourth-year wideout’s first career touchdown, but this was a five-yard pass he took another 79 yards down the sideline for a touchdown while Bengals defenders struggled to catch up to him. He’ll have this one in the personal highlight reel for years to come, but this guy splits his time between special teams and being the fourth or fifth receiver on the field in different packages.

He played a 19-percent snap-share Thursday which was slightly better than his weekly average and had seen two targets all season before this game. With Zay Flowers, Diontae Johnson, Nelson Agholor and tight end targets like Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, we do not expect to see Wallace receive any sort of consistent targets or do this again.

And even if there is a game where he does do this again, do you really think you’re going to be able to predict it? I don’t think so. I love the energy and perpetual desire to improve the squad, but Wallace is not that guy.

Nils W. Asks...

I’ve been very adamant with my stance that if McCaffrey is on the field Sunday, he’s in my starting lineups no matter what. You’re never going to get the full story regarding his health or expected workload because you cannot believe a single word out of Kyle Shanahan’s mouth.

The last time he was asked about McCaffrey being on the field Sunday, Shanahan’s response was, “well, he’s not hurting.” What does that even mean? Shanahan is notorious for hiding things from the public, so accept the fact that you won’t ever know what McCaffrey’s snap-count will be.

But I don’t care if he sees 10 snaps or 30. He’s in my lineup because he is the most explosive player out there and whenever he is on the field, the 49ers put the ball into his hands. He is always capable of ripping off big chunks of yardage, whether it’s from a designed run or a catch and I will always choose that explosiveness, especially over players who don’t have a floor of at least 10-12 fantasy points.

Three-straight weeks of 100-yard efforts from Najee put him on the cusp, but I will still favor McCaffrey’s upside, even coming off a bye and facing Washington’s 26th-ranked run defense. I would certainly like to get him into my lineup and wonder who else you might have that it would be an either/or situation here because if I’m starting two running backs and have a flex, he would slot in as a starter, for sure.

But Dobbins against Tennessee isn’t a great match-up, Pollard hasn’t practiced all week and doesn’t have a strong match-up on the other side of that game and Irving is part of a three-headed monster, so 10 snaps for McCaffrey is still probably better than using Irving against the 49ers. Maybe find another way to get Najee into your lineup, but McCaffrey is the guy I still choose over all of them.

Melissa G. Wants To Know...

An embarrassment of riches, Melissa! How do you sleep at night knowing there are so many fantasy football teams out there who don’t have receivers like this? No matter who you choose to sit, he’ll probably do just as well as the others and be better than whomever your opponent is starting, unless, of course, you ran into the Ja'Marr Chase buzzsaw.

Kupp against the Dolphins and Nabers against Carolina are automatic starts for me this week. Both see a huge target share and are each given massive opportunities to score points. The Rams/Dolphins game has a 50-point over/under and I expect some back-and-forth between these two offenses.

And the Panthers are basically a dead team which means this is one of those games where the Giants really want to open things up for Daniel Jones and company. Sure, the Giants are basically a dead team as well, but the Giants need to see if Jones can be their guy, and nothing boosts the confidence like a match-up like this one.

So, for me, it comes down to London or McLaurin and I am probably going to sit McLaurin due to the match-up against the Steelers. The Falcons have an opportunity to extend their lead in the NFC South and they face a Saints team that has also seemingly given up on the season.

Trading away Marshon Lattimore means London is facing a depleted secondary and with the way Kirk Cousins has been slinging the rock, you definitely want to stay invested in the Falcons’ passing game. The Steelers defense ranks 10th in DVOA against the pass and they rank second in DVOA against the opposing WR1, allowing an average of just 52.6 receiving yards per game to them.

Couple that with the difficulty with which Jayden Daniels is going to have with T.J. Watt and the rest of the Steelers pass-rush and it’s going to be very difficult for him to allow McLaurin the time to complete his routes. As great as he’s been this year, Scary Terry is on the bench for me.

Gary F. inquires…

As much as I like the potential of Marvin Harrison, the answer is Tracy and, not to sound like a fantasy Twitter cliche, but it’s not even close. The Panthers rank dead-last in DVOA against the run and are allowing the most rushing yards per game this season. They’ve also allowed 15 rushing touchdowns this year.

They also rank 28th in DVOA against running back pass-plays. Look for the Giants to get the ball into his hands as much as possible in this one. Harrison taking on the Jets is going to be a difficult one. It’s not just that he’s going to see a lot of Sauce Gardner, but he is also going to be content with D.J. Reed and, when he’s in the slot, Michael Carter II.

Harrison has great size and speed and will eventually blossom into one of the league’s elites, but there are so many other troubling aspects with this Arizona offense and its lack of consistency, that I would much prefer the higher floor and strong ceiling we’ll get from Tracy.

Fantasy Football Week 10 - NFL 2024

If your fantasy football question didn’t get answered here in the Mailbag this week, don’t worry. Chances are, you’ve already heard from me via email or on social media.

But please keep them coming. Many of us are diving into the start/sit questions regarding the same players, so maybe someone else gets their answer but you’ve got a very similar question.

And, as always, please reach out at any point, whether it’s through the Fantasy Alarm Discord (just be sure to tag me or send a private DM) or in an email me at rotobuzzguy@gmail.com

Best of luck to you all this week and let’s keep crushing it.
