Finding some of the NBA DFS top picks could be, easier if you look at Fantasy Alarm’s NBA DFS Projections, powered by FanJections. Let’s dive into the complete breakdown for tonight’s showdown slate between the Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trail Blazers.

Portland Trail Blazers Injuries

NBA DFS Showdown CPT/MVP Top Plays

Anfernee Simons, Portland Trail Blazers

Anfernee Simons is questionable with an illness heading into the game tonight. He is the most expensive player on the slate and is in contention for the captain spot tonight. He has been very inconsistent as of late including a game in which he went 0-10 from the floor and scored just 12.5 fantasy points. He bounced back in the last game in a big way finishing with 43.25 fantasy points on 18 attempts in 41 minutes. The minutes thing is a huge plus for these Blazers guys, especially in the backcourt, where they are very thin. If Simons plays tonight, he deserves consideration for the captain spot.

Mikal Bridges, Brooklyn Nets

Mikal Bridges is the safest play on the slate for this matchup. He is another guy who plays a ton of minutes as the alpha on this Nets squad. He has played at least 36 minutes in his last five games. He has been very aggressive on the offensive end over the last three games as well, getting up at least 18 attempts in each. Bridges has also scored over 25 game points in three straight games for the first time all season. Ride the wave with Bridges tonight if you want to play it safe.

Scoot Henderson, Portland Trail Blazers

I mentioned in the intro that Scoot Henderson is coming off the best game of his career. The rookie finished with a stat line of 33 points seven rebounds and nine assists for 61.75 fantasy points. He did that on the back of 31 shot attempts which we do not expect to happen again. Deandre Ayton and Jerami Grant both return to the lineup which will cut into the production. However, Brogdon and Simons are both questionable heading into this one. If neither plays, Scoot is a must-play because they are so thin at the point guard position.

NBA DFS Showdown Utility Top Plays

Nic Claxton, Brooklyn Nets

Like his teammate Mikal Bridges, Nic Claxton has a pretty safe floor. He is a rebounding machine grabbing at least 11 rebounds in five straight games. Anything he gives you on the offensive side as a rim-runner is a plus, which he has been giving as of late scoring in double-digits in four of those past five games. Deandre Ayton is coming back from injury tonight, so I wonder how much energy he will have. Claxton might just be able to fly around tonight and have a big night for this Nets team.

Deandre Ayton, Portland Trail Blazers

Ayto is coming back from injury for the first time since before Christmas with a knee injury. Before Ayton went down, he was very solid for DFS purposes. He has averaged 13-10 double-doubles in 31 minutes on the season. I do not expect him to have a full workload, but even if he plays 22-25 minutes, he will be able to get you 28-35 fantasy points. His price is a bit high, but you can afford it on this slate, with not a ton of star power.

Cam Thomas, Brooklyn Nets

Cam Thomas is back playing 30 minutes in the Nets rotation and back chucking up shots. In the last two games, Thomas has taken 41 attempts and finished with over 30 fantasy points in each game. He has done that by going three for his last 15 attempts from behind the three-point line. If he keeps getting this opportunity we have to ride the wave. If his shot starts to fall tonight from behind the arc, he could have a huge night, and could be a captain option if you want to get crazy.

NBA DFS Showdown Value Top Plays

Dennis Smith Jr., Brooklyn Nets

We may be starting to see Dennis Smith Jr. take over the point guard position in Brooklyn. He played 32 minutes which was more than Spencer Dinwiddie, and closed the game ahead of him. He has played 20 minutes in at least five straight games and has scored over 31 fantasy points in three of those games. Smith has also dished out five assists in four straight games and has honestly run the offense better than Dinwiddie as of late. I am good playing Smith at his low price tonight with his 40+ point ceiling.

Toumani Camara, Portland Trail Blazers

With everyone being so cheap on this slate you do not have to pay down a ton to get a balanced lineup tonight. But if you feel the need to Camara is the best option of the cheap guys. He has scored over 20 fantasy points in three of his past five games. He just doesnt have the ceiling and that is baked into his cost. It will also be interesting to see if he still starts with Ayton and Grant both back in the lineup. If Camara is replaced as a starter, then we are not playing him.
