NBA Best Bets Today, 3/2: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Sunday

Mark Williams exceeded his point and rebounding lines yesterday, but the Charlotte Hornets dropped their fourth game of the season to the Washington Wizards. Thus ruining the same game parlay. The Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs abandoned defense as they combined for 258 points, 14 more than what was the highest projected total. Apparently the Spurs moneyline was the angle as they upset Memphis.
Kyle Kuzma came through for Fantasy Alarm Best Bets, and earned over 7.5 rebounds against the Dallas Mavericks. In doing so the damage was kept to under one unit, and betting against Dallas continues to be a great angle.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 3/2
There are nine great games across the NBA today, but only one of them is on ABC. It features the Bet of the Day as well.
Nuggets vs Celtics Prediction: DEN -2.5 (+175 on Bet365) *BET OF THE DAY
The Boston Celtics host the Denver Nuggets at TD Garden in an early afternoon match. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:10 PM ET, and can be viewed on ABC or ESPN+. This is a potential NBA Finals preview, and the Boston Celtics are favored by -3.5. For an in-depth look at this match; injury report, thoughts on each team, projected starting lineups, and a plus odd player proposition prediction, check out my predictions article at Wageralarm.
When Jayson Tatum was asked when he knew they were going to win the championship last year, his response was, ‘When the Denver Nuggets lost’. That tells you everything you need to know about how much respect the Boston Celtics coaching staff and players have for the Nuggets. And rightfully so, last year they were defending champions. This year they have been dismissed as a team with an all-time great player and a fluke championship.
The Nuggets are proving that is a wrong assumption though. They have won 11 of their last 13 games, 15 of their last 20, have a 19-12 road record, and average 121.4 points per game. That is five more per game than Boston, and third most in the Association. The Nuggets are in the middle of a rough road tour; Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics. However iron sharpens iron and the Nuggets are battle tested for the upcoming gauntlet known as the Western Conference playoffs.
The Boston Celtics have both Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis listed as doubtful and Jaylen Brown listed as questionable. Should Holiday and Porzingis not be able to play, the scoring will come easily for the Nuggets leaders Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. They are both on an excellent stretch of basketball, and even if Holiday and Porzingis were there they would have issues slowing them down. The Celtics haven’t lost three games in a row this season, but the Nuggets are playing fantastic basketball with a high powered offense. Due to that, Fantasy Alarm is suggesting a teased up spread for the Nuggets. The odds are fantastic for Denver to win by over 2.5 points and that is the Bet of the Day.
Timberwolves vs Suns Prediction: Anthony Edwards over 3.5 Three’s Made (-105 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Anthony Edwards was ejected on February 27th against the Los Angeles Lakers. Due to it being his sixteenth technical of the season, he was suspended the next day in the match against the Utah Jazz. The Timberwolves would go on to lose both games and now are in a three way tie for tenth in the West. Not an ideal spot for a team that was in the Western Conference Finals last season.
They now play the Phoenix Suns at the Footprint Center in a match on ESPN. The Suns are in eleventh place, and 3.5 games behind Minnesota, currently out of the play-in. They could gain a full game on the Timberwolves with a win, and honestly their play-in hopes need a stretch of wins to have a legitimate chance. Despite being 28-32 the Suns have a 17-12 record at home, and Minnesota could have trouble shaking this losing streak.
They will have their unquestioned best player back in action, and Edwards must deliver for them to have a victory. The Suns allow 115.9 points per game but Minnesota only scores 112 points per game. That is not from the lack of effort from Edwards though. Edwards has attempted the most three point field goals in the Association, with 587 this season. From being known as the next heir to airness, to adapting his game due to analytics, Edwards is a true scorer.
He has 12 or more three point attempts in five of his last seven matches, and that includes the game he was ejected from. He has made four or more in four of his last five completed matches, and his projected point total is at 28.5. Edwards has scored 23 or less points in matches he makes 3 or less threes. The correlation between threes and points should be obvious, especially for the player that has attempted the most this season. Put a unit on Edwards to make four or more threes in his return from a suspension.
Best NBA Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 3/2
There are numerous options for player propositions today, and in the Betting Bungalow we have been tracking a few players' progress. The Magic’s starting center has proven consistency, and that is one the key components to accurate betting.
Raptors vs Magic Prediction: Wendell Carter Over 8.5 Rebounds (-115 on Bet365)
Wendell Carter has been playing well and he has a great rebounding opportunity today. He has played over his season average minutes in all but one game since the All-Star break. He has recorded nine or more rebounds in five of his last six matches, extending from February 12th. The one game he did not record nine was against the Cleveland Cavaliers and their dual threat front court of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. Today the Orlando Magic play the Toronto Raptors who do not have the front court presence that Cleveland does.
Toronto allows the eighth most rebounds per game, with an average of 53.3. They allowed 60.0 in their most recent match against the Chicago Bulls, and the Bulls did not have their starting center. The Magic are on a two game losing streak, but have a great opportunity to bounce back with a home game against the Raptors. The Magic are only half a game back from the Miami Heat for seventh place, and could surpass them with a win and Heat loss.
Carter Jr. will be a difficult player for Jakob Poeltl and Scottie Barnes to box out for rebounds. Particularly with the focus of the Raptors on Paolo Banchero. With a 7’ 5” wingspan the former Duke Blue Devil should easily cover his 8.5 rebounding line. Put a uint down for him to earn nine or more rebounds against the Raptors on Bet365 and make sure to use the promotional code below.
