There are 10 games today and there are NBA predictions on three games at different times. The first game with action is the Brooklyn Nets at Orlando Magic with a 7:00 PM ET start time. 

The second game is an Eastern Conference thriller in a 2024 playoff rematch, the Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks. The third game is the ESPN marque game between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers.

 

 

 

Nets vs. Magic Prediction: Under 216 Total Points (-112 on DraftKings)

The Orlando Magic are one of the best defensive teams in the league, and they just held the Miami Heat to 97 total points. The Brooklyn Nets are not a better offensive team then the Miami Heat, and if Orlando locks down Cam Thomas it will be difficult for the Nets to find other players to put up points. 

Orlando allowed the second fewest points in the NBA last year and are on pace to be the best defensive team in the Eastern Conference for the second straight year. Instead of bringing in an offensive player during the offseason, they brought in one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. 

216 points is the lowest projected total of the night, and despite that fact, Fantasy Alarm is betting on the under to be successful. Excellent perimeter defense and Paolo Banchero down on the blocks will make it hard for the Nets to have consistent rhythm. Place one unit and cheer on great defense in the first game of the night.

 

 

 

Pacers vs. Knicks Prediction: Pascal Siakam Over 3.5 Assists (+125 on BetMGM) *2 UNITS

The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks 2023 Eastern Conference Divisional Playoffs may have been the most exciting series of the playoffs. Now they meet again, and for the Knicks this is the eighth time in nine games they have played the Pacers.

There are young stars on both teams, and they are both emerging contenders to win the NBA Finals. Two different coaching philosophies clash as the Pacers like to run with pace, and the Knicks enjoy running half court offenses. 

The Knicks were embarrassed by the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics in their first game, and now get to play the team that finished 2nd in the conference. Tough start to begin the season, and their defense looked confused at times against the Celtics on Tuesday.

This bodes well for the bet tonight on Pascal Siakam’s assists line. It’s at positive odds and only four assists are needed. Siakam has averaged over 3.5 assists in his last six seasons, and had a whopping 9 against the Pistons two days ago. It appears that Siakam is enhancing his role with the Pacers as their central figure which was the case in much of their playoff success. Look for more assists this season, and over 3.5 tonight.

Davis will be exploiting Jusuf Nurkic with offensive rebound put backs, and smooth jumpers outside the paint. Jusuf Nurkic is not athletic enough to defend Davis, and barring double-teams Davis should score at will. Davis is the Lakers first scoring option, and the offense runs through him.

Durant is not the top scoring option every night, but he managed 25 points against the Clippers two days ago. It feels like Durant also turns up his performance when playing against his friend LeBron James. He has averaged over 23 points for 17 straight seasons, and every year but his rookie campaign. Tonight should not be any different.
