In the poetic words of Mike Breen, ‘BANG, BANG!’. Not one, but two double unit hits last night, one at positive odds in the first half. The Texas two-step (both double unit bets took place in Texas, Dallas and San Antonio) helped achieve ‘Meat Loaf’ last night, and moved Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets to over twenty-five units gained, which is over sixty percent of the goal of forty units. Keep in mind that it is advised to withdraw in twenty percent increments to our goal, for this goal it is every eight units.

Celebrate victories and steps achieved to your goals, but be mindful of the task of reaching the overall goal. To do that small victories, over time, must be won against the sportsbooks with consistent results. There are seven games today, four teams on the second of back-to-back games, and two nationally televised games that include The Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors. This column will avoid the nationally televised games as they could be competitive and the lines are tight. It does exploit teams on back-to-back games, with three favorable props.

NBA Bet of the Night

Rudy Gobert UNDER 13.5 Rebounds (+105 at BetMGM)

Rudy Gobert is a rotational player on this column, but usually on his overs. He’s the second-leading rebounder in the NBA with 12.5 rebounds per game, and just recorded sixteen last night. But last night was against the Washington Wizards, who are the worst-rebounding team in the Association. The Minnesota Timberwolves are playing their second of back-to-back games, both on the road and tonight it’s against the Brooklyn Nets

The Nets are not an easy out despite their record of 17-26, they have a point differential of -1.7. They allow the eighth most rebounds per game, 52.7, but are surprisingly tough against centers. They allow the fourth fewest rebounds to opposing centers and a big part of that is Nicolas Claxton. Claxton averages over ten rebounds per game and is coming off a seventeen-rebound performance against the New York Knicks

Asking Rudy Gobert to get more than his average on back-to-back nights, against a good center is a tough task. Take the positive odds on the under as there are several scenarios in which Gobert earns less than fourteen rebounds.

NBA Prop Bets

Collin Sexton, OVER 1.5 Threes Made (-125 at BetMGM)

Collin Sexton could be under the radar, even for some NBA heads. The Utah Jazz have received very little national media attention since the departure of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, and they had a slow start to the season. They are healthy and playing better basketball, although they have dropped three in a row. If ever there is a team to get in the groove or pad the stats against it is the Washington Wizards

The Wizards are playing in the second of back-to-back games after a beat down by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and allow the eighth most points to opposing guards. Colin Sexton has been very reliable from beyond the arc and has covered this betting line in seven of his last eight games. He also has fifty-one attempts this month with twenty-three dropping through the rim, a 45.1% three-point success rate. Sexton should have a few zero pressure attempts, and only needs to make two. Trust the Utah Jazz guard.

Simone Fontecchio OVER 3.5 Rebounds (-140 at BetMGM)

Simone Fontecchio joins Colin Sexton in their first appearances on the column and both are playing against the Washington Wizards. For those who like to live dangerously, you can combine or tease their lines for a same-game parlay. The Utah Jazz have a great opportunity to ensure a winning month with a win against the Wizards. They can have double-digit wins in January, a goal of any NBA organization, if they win two of their next four. Fontecchio is another name people do not know, or could not even be aware of, as the starting small forward for the Jazz. He has covered this rebound line in five straight games, and ten of twelve games in January. He provides great effort and has played at least twenty to thirty-five minutes in every game this month.

Betting against the Washington Wizards rebounding line is arguably the most utilized angle for the season thus far… That is not changing tonight, trust Fontecchio to provide maximum effort and snag at least four rebounds.
