Happy Friday! Let’s end the week strong with some winning MLB DFS lineups today! There is a big slate today with a 13-game main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel kicking off at 7:05 PM EST, so there is plenty of time to get your lineups together. There are some top-tier pitchers taking the mound, highlighted by Gerrit Cole, Shohei Ohtani, and Luis Castillo. There are some great value pitching options as well to target to build your lineups around. Plenty of strong offense to choose from today as well, highlighted by a game in Coors with the San Diego Padres taking on the Colorado Rockies. Outside of Colorado, the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Baltimore Orioles are among my favorite offenses to target. With so many games there are endless ways to build your lineups, so let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day! 

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Garrett Whitlock, Boston Red Sox (DraftKings: $6,500 / FanDuel: $7,600)

The New York Yankees without Aaron Judge are a lot less terrifying. Garrett Whitlock has looked good but not great in his two starts since returning from the IL. I think he should continue to ramp up and should be able to keep getting better as he does so. I trust him to go out and put up a decent start against this Judge-less Yankees lineup. At a very reasonable price, he should easily return value today as one of the cheaper starters on the board. 

Yusei Kikuchi, Toronto Blue Jays (DraftKings: $6,500 / FanDuel: $8,400)

Yusei Kikuchi has been very up and down this season, but overall has been fairly good as of late. In his last start against the Mets, he went 5 strong innings striking out 8 batters and only giving up 2 runs off 4 hits. I think he is going to keep up this strikeout level in his start today against the Minnesota Twins. He comes with risk, but he has given up 2 or fewer earned runs in 7 of his 12 starts this season and should be a great value play at his price today.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Gary Sanchez, C San Diego Padres (DraftKings: $3,900 / FanDuel: $3,200)

A catcher with the power potential that Gary Sanchez also getting to hit in Coors is a great play. He has two homeruns and two doubles in his last 3 games and now gets to face Austin Gomber in Coors. This is a fantastic play with him being at this price, hitting this well, and being in this good of a matchup. He has fantastic upside, and you don’t have to pay up for it still, which makes this an obvious play at catcher for me today. 

Kevin Newman, 1B/3B Cincinnati Reds (DraftKings: $3,000 / FanDuel: $2,700)

Kevin Newman has been a great hitter against lefties this season. He is slashing .340/.407/.528 on the year against them and continues to be a strong piece of the Cincinnati Reds offense. He had dropped down to the 7 spot for a few days but was back in the leadoff spot yesterday and hit a home run and hopefully will remain there today, getting to face Jordan Montgomery. Either way, he should be able to have good success against the lefty, who hasn’t been very dominant so far this season, and even outside of Cincy, I trust Newman to be productive today.

Elly De La Cruz, SS Cincinnati Reds (DraftKings: $3,700 / FanDuel: $3,400)

I have a feeling Elly De La Cruz isn’t going to be this cheap for long. He looks like he could be a star for the Reds, and he provides incredible upside. He has been such a great hitter this season in the minor leagues, and I am sure will be able to keep it up in the majors with how talented he is. I am all in while his price is this low and will happily throw him in my lineups for as long as it continues. 

Tommy Pham, OF New York Mets (DraftKings: $2,900 / FanDuel: $2,700)

Tommy Pham is on fire hitting 3 home runs and a double over his last 4 games including a multi-homer game against the Toronto Blue Jays in which he was batting lead-off. Pham is still a solid hitter with plenty of upside to put up a big game. He doesn’t start every day for the Mets, but he should be getting a spot in the lineup today against the veteran lefty Rich Hill. At this price I think Pham is a quality enough of a hitter to take a chance on to keep up this small power streak he is on.
