Happy Wednesday! There is a decent amount of day games today, with a lot of teams playing the final game of a series before hitting the road. That means we get a bit of a smaller main slate this afternoon with an 8-game main slate starting at 7:07 PM EST on both DraftKings and FanDuel. This slate still includes some great matchups with the New York Yankees trying to avoid being swept by the Los Angeles Angels, the Cincinnati Reds trying to stop a 6-game losing skid taking on the San Francisco Giants in Cincy, and the Arizona Diamondbacks looking to keep their offense hot against the Atlanta Braves after a huge 16-13 win against them yesterday. Today’s pitching is headlined by Eduardo Rodriguez, Luis Castillo, and Charlie Morton. On the offensive side, some of my favorite lineups to target today include the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Washington Nationals, and the San Francisco Giants. Plenty of excitement across the league, and tons of great players to choose from to build some winning MLB DFS lineups today. So, let’s jump into some of my favorite value options of the day! 

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Kenta Maeda, Minnesota Twins (DraftKings: $7,800 / FanDuel: $7,200) 

While the last outing was a bit disappointing, only going 3 innings against the Oakland Athletics, he still had 6 strikeouts and showed flashes of great stuff still. He has 41 strikeouts in 36 innings this season, and while his 5.50 ERA looks rough, that is mostly because of his 10-run outing against the New York Yankees. The Seattle Mariners offense has been pretty underwhelming all year, and Maeda should have no problem getting another solid strikeout number today and hopefully more than 3 innings. 

Yu Darvish, San Diego Padres (DraftKings: $8,000 / FanDuel: $9,200) 

The Toronto Blue Jays are no walk in the park, but Yu Darvish has the stuff to shut them down if he is on. He is coming off 9 strikeouts in 6 innings, giving up only 1 run in a win against the Philadelphia Phillies, who are a great offense as well. This is a better value play in DraftKings, but even for his price at FanDuel, he should be worth considering today. 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Blake Sabol, C San Francisco Giants (DraftKings: $3,600 / FanDuel: $2,800) 

Since July 1st, Blake Sabol has 3 home runs and an OPS of 1.000. Facing Graham Ashcraft in Cincinnati should be a great chance for Sabol to add to his home run total. The Giants haven’t been the most consistent offense, but they are much better against righties, and in a great offensive park today, I think they should be able to put up quite a few runs, with Blake Sabol will be a big contributor to that. 

Jeimer Candelario, 3B Washington Nationals (DraftKings: $3,800 / FanDuel: $3,200) 

Jeimer Candelario has been consistently hitting for quite a while now. Over his last 25 games, he has slashed .301/.369/.602, and he has 4 home runs in his last 10 games as well. He is also better against righties with a .854 OPS against them, and while Kyle Hendricks has been pitching quite well so far, he certainly doesn’t scare me. 

CJ Abrams, SS Washington Nationals (DraftKings: $3,200 / FanDuel: $2,900) 

Since being moved to the leadoff spot of the lineup, CJ Abrams has slashed .394/.444/.576 over 8 games with 6 stolen bases and 9 runs scored. This seems to be an ideal spot for Abrams, who is really starting to click at the plate, and while he did just have his first hitless game since moving into the leadoff spot, I am sure he can bounce back tonight and put together another solid game at the plate. 

Seiya Suzuki, OF Chicago Cubs (DraftKings: $3,300 / FanDuel: $2,700) 

Seiya Suzuki has shown flashes of excellence but has overall had a mostly disappointing season so far. I still think Suzuki can be a great hitter. He just had a 4-hit game, including a home run yesterday against the Nationals. His price has also plummeted through the season, as he was up over $5,000 on DraftKings to start the season. At this discounted price, I am happy to jump on the opportunity that he is starting to put it together at the plate.
