MLB Underdog Fantasy Top Picks June 6

Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves – OVER 1.5 Total Bases

Even though New York Mets starter Carlos Carrasco is coming off of two solid starts, the Atlanta Braves offense might put a hurting on him tonight. Carrasco still has a 5.74 ERA, 6.09 FIP, and 1.37 WHIP this season with a career-low 13.8% strikeout rate. Meanwhile, the Braves have one of the league’s better offenses against right-handed pitching with a .369 wOBA vs righties over the past week. Let’s bank on Matt Olson helping Atlanta’s cause as he goes over 1.5 total bases. Olson is a very boom-or-bust hitter when it comes to the total bases prop but there are some key stats in his favor tonight. The Braves’ first baseman boasts strong BvP numbers vs Carrasco across their careers, hitting .417 (5-for-12) with two home runs and two doubles off of the Mets righty. Plus, 15 of Olson’s 17 homers this season have come against right-handers while hitting .248 with a .929 OPS vs righties compared to a .194 BA and .619 OPS vs lefties. The lefty-swinging Olson has three homers over the past seven games and you could even consider his home run prop at some sportsbooks.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers – OVER 1.5 Total Bases

One of the hottest hitters in the MLB right now is Corey Seager and backing his player props lately has been a profitable strategy. The Texas Rangers shortstop is hitting .406 with a 1.112 OPS over the past seven games and .369 with a 1.083 OPS over the past 15 games. His season-long batting average is up to .351 as he’s anchoring a potent Rangers offense. Expect Seager to keep it going tonight against St. Louis Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore, who has a 4.91 ERA, 6.11 xERA, and 1.36 WHIP so far this season. You might be worried about the lefty-on-lefty matchup, but Seager is actually hitting .361 vs southpaws in 2023. He also has favorable splits in his favor tonight with a .419 BA and .726 SLG at home this year compared to a .265 BA and .469 SLG on the road. He’s been over 1.5 total bases in five straight games and in seven of the past eight contests.
