Anthony Volpe Sleeper Fantasy MLB Pick: More Than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (2.1x)

One of the more underrated Yankees this postseason has been Anthony Volpe. Not enough credit for his elite at-bats has been given, and at over 2x odds, he’s one of my favorite MLB Sleeper Fantasy Picks of the day. Volpe has not only hit .286 this postseason, but he has a .483 OBP, and Gavin Williams has a control problem. 

He averaged nearly four walks per innings as a starter, which would rank him 22nd amongst all starting pitchers in baseball who threw at least 70 innings. I love the quality of at-bats, I love what he’s done at the plate, and I trust he’ll come through with runners on or create a run himself.

 

 

 

Kike Hernandez Sleeper Fantasy MLB Pick: More Than 0.5 Hits (1.5x)

The playoff legend of Kike Hernandez just grows and grows, and you sometimes catch yourself realizing some players that aren’t good during the regular season can rise to the biggest moments. That’s Kike Hernandez, as crazy as that sounds, and getting a 1.5x multiplier on getting one hit feels very solid.

He’s one of my favorite MLB Sleeper Fantasy Picks of the day. He’s hitting a robust .346 this postseason and has three multi-hit games over his last four contests. He’s hit in five of his last six postseason games overall and faces left-handed hurler David Peterson who’s had a lot of luck on his side against right-handed hitters this season. 

Righties have posted just a .114 ISO but their xISO of .150 suggests luck. The .312 wOBA he’s allowed doesn’t match the .356 xwOBA either. The luck runs out against the scorching hot Kike Hernandez here.
