Tanner Houck PrizePicks MLB Pick: More Than 38.5 Fantasy Points

A couple of tough outings for Houck recently, but the newly named All-Star finds himself in an elite matchup to right the ship here today as the Red Sox take on the Oakland A’s for the third game in their series. Houck has otherwise been fantastic this season, posting a 2.68 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over his 18 starts.

Houck hasn’t been a big strikeout pitcher, but the A’s have the second-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season, and we watched both Brayan Bello and Nick Pivetta have double-digit strikeout games in the first two matchups of this series. I’m banking on a ceiling strikeout performance and at least seven innings from Houck tonight for him to finish with more than 38.5 fantasy points.

 

 

 

Nestor Cortes PrizePicks MLB Pick: Less Than 31.5 Fantasy Points

One of my favorite plays on the day here today is taking the 'under' on fantasy points for Cortes. This man just really struggles on the road, posting an ERA 5.63. 

The key to keeping his fantasy score low is getting him out of the game early, and in seven of his nine starts this season on the road, he has pitched fewer than six innings. The Rays are a much better team against lefties than righties and I’m willing to bank on Nestor struggling here again on the road and coming up short with his fantasy points.
