Dodgers vs. Nationals Predictions: Wednesday, April 9th

It was rather enjoyable watching the Nats clown the Dodgers yesterday and how about James Wood with 3 home runs in the series! This team is on the upswing but remember the Dodgers are still the best team in baseball and you should see them bounce back today in the nation’s capital. 

Jake Irvin is starting for the Nats and that’s not a good thing as he checks into today’s matchup with a 5.4 ERA and 1.7 WHIP over his two starts so far this season. He is allowing a ton of hits too with 7 a piece in each start and 5 total walks. You do not want to pitch like that against this Dodgers team, but he has little choice not being a strikeout pitcher. 

The Los Angeles bats have really hit righty pitching well this season too as Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Will Smith and Michael Conforto are all hitting above or nearly at .300 against them. One mistake and the game gets blown wide open so I will be taking the Dodgers on the Run Line tonight.

In addition to that, let's grab a bat to add onto our MLB picks, and why would it be anyone other than Ohtani? He already has 4 homers and 2 extra base hits on the season with 15 hits and 13 runs to go along with it!

He is circling the bases and getting on base as well easily with an OBP of .417 and against a pitcher like Irvin he is going to light it up along with the other Dodgers hitters so let’s ride the over on his 2.5 hits/runs/RBIs. 

 

 

 

Angels vs. Rays Predictions: Wednesday, April 9th

This is the other game I will have my eye on for MLB best bets today as there’s a rather large disparity in the teams and starting pitchers! That’s right, I am talking Rays vs. Angels and Ryan Pepiot vs. Yusei Kikuchi. 

Pepiot has been so good for the Rays already this season through 2 starts allowing just 3 runs over 11 innings pitched and, in the process, striking out 11 hitters. This is a great spot for those kinds of numbers as the Angels offense is a little off their skis right now and will start to decline sooner rather than later. 

On the Angels side of things, they will send out Kikuchi and he’s just a guy I have never been impressed with since his arrival in the league. He walks more batters than he should and if he can’t punchout the hitter he doesn’t have many ways out after that. He has an ERA of 4.5 through his first 2 starts which isn’t bad but this Rays team can hit lefties if they are patient enough. 

The Rays have good value as the home team tonight too at -140 on most books, it should be higher considering they are the better team with the better splits, but the Angels have played well so the books are a bit confused I imagine. Either way Rays on the Money Line for me tonight, lock it in.
