Dodgers vs. Mets Prediction, NLCS Game 3: Wednesday, October 16th
With this series now moving to New York for the next pair of games, it seems the Mets are carrying all the momentum right now! I’m not sure it will be slowing down tonight either as Walker Buehler takes the mound for the Dodgers with his 10.80 postseason ERA.
He’s struggled all season overall as well since returning from a lengthy injury. With the way the Mets are swinging the bats, he’s in trouble tonight.
This postseason, the Mets have scored 45 runs over the course of 9 games – which puts them at an average of 5 runs per game! Given the struggles of Buehler, I like the Mets at home a lot tonight on the offensive side. Their team total of 3.5 runs is an over I will be hammering for Game 3!
In addition to the team total, I really like the way Mark Vientos is playing right now, hitting .378 with an OPS of 1.086 so far this postseason. He has gone over 1.5 hits/runs/RBIs in 6 of the 9 games during these playoffs and I am betting he does it again tonight against this Dodgers pitching staff!
- Expert Dodgers vs. Mets MLB Picks:
- Mets Team Total Over 3.5 Runs (-115 on DraftKings)
- Mark Vientos (NYM) Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-105 on DraftKings)
Player News
Wilyer Abreu went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk Tuesday as the Red Sox routed the Blue Jays 10-2.
Abreu didn’t start against lefties Saturday or Sunday before Monday’s scheduled day off, but no layoff has been a problem for him this year. He’s up to six homers and 21 RBI through just 110 plate appearances, and his .963 OPS places him 11th in the majors.
Garrett Crochet pitched seven innings of two-run ball to defeat the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s missile to center in the third supplied the damage in the form of a two-run homer. Crochet allowed only three other hits and struck out six in a 94-pitch outing. Boston’s ace is due to face the Twins on Sunday, unless maybe the Red Sox opt for a spot starter before then. As is, it’d be a third straight start on four days’ rest of him.
Bowden Francis served up five home run balls and surrendered seven runs in three innings against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Francis just couldn’t be hit last year, but he’s given up 11 homers while amassing a 5.28 ERA in six starts. The Jays aren’t at all likely to make a change just yet, but maybe they should stretch Yariel Rodríguez back out just in case they need to instigate a move. Francis is due to face the Guardians next time out.
Alex Bregman hit his sixth homer as part of a three-hit game against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Bregman is working on a nine-game hitting streak that’s pushed his average up to .331, good for ninth in the majors. He’s also tied for second with 11 doubles and seventh with a .971 OPS.
Kristian Campbell homered, doubled and walked against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
After a little mini-slump that saw him strike out nine times in four games, Campbell is 8-for-11 with three doubles and four walks in his last three games, taking his OPS all of the way up to .935.
Matt Olson went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in the Braves’ 8-2 win over the Rockies on Tuesday.
Olson had a good day at the plate in Colorado, putting together just his third multi-hit game of the season and first three-hit effort. He’d came around to score all three times he reached base. The 31-year-old slugger is slashing .240/.378/.404 with four homers, 17 runs scored, and 15 RBI across 127 plate appearances.
