MLB Best Bets Today, 4/25 - Expert Picks, Predictions, Props, & Odds

Who’s ready to jump back into the MLB Bets and Prop Bets for today, April 25?
After a few days off, it looks like we picked things right back up with another really strong day of betting yesterday. We threw down another 12 bets and while we had two cancelled because of yet another pitcher going down with an injury, we crushed the day. For those who missed Wednesday’s action, San Francisco Giants starter Blake Snell was the latest pitching casualty. He was a late scratch due to an adductor injury. The fantasy baseball community continues to freak out over a season riddled with injuries. The betting community? We roll with the punches. Injuries happen. We push forward and continue our winning ways.

MLB Picks, Predictions & Bets Bets Today, 4/25
If you remember last week, we discussed these daytime slates and how we feel about betting them. MLB players are creatures of habit, so a day-game does mess with their routine. You should always keep in mind that if a slate does not have a lot of value or overall appeal, you don’t want to bet it heavily. Our routine is just as important as theirs.
In a lot of cases, that means I won’t have as many picks as we usually have. It also means that you may want to reduce your wagers as well. Maybe you go a half-unit instead of a full unit. However you see it best, but you NEVER want to force it. We don’t like what we see, we pass and look to pick it up the next day. I cannot stress this enough. We bet because we see a legitimate opportunity to make money. We don’t do it for the thrill of it. That’s not what this is about.
- Yesterday’s Record: 8-2
- Season Record: 63-50-1
- Bankroll: +7.40 units

Brewers vs. Pirates Prediction: Thursday, April 25
We’ve got ace versus ace on the mound for this battle in the NL Central, but we also have two teams moving in opposite directions right now. The Pirates may have taken two of three from the Brewers so far, but with Freddy Peralta on the bump for Milwaukee, I’m leaning way towards them, at least for the beginning of this game. The Pirates are posting a .263 wOBA with just .101 ISO over the past week and they are 3-7 over their last 10 games. I do like Bryan Reynolds who has hit safely in his last two and has a strong track record against Peralta, but that’s probably the only bright spot I see for Pittsburgh today.
Expert Brewers vs. Pirates Picks:
- Brewers First 5 Innings Money Line (-135 on Bet365)
- Bryan Reynolds over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (+105 on BetMGM)
Phillies vs. Reds Prediction: Thursday, April 25
Phillies ace ack Wheeler continues to work his way into midseason form and looked spectacular in his last outing. Granted, it came against the White Sox, but he faced these same Reds during his second start of the season and held them to one run over six innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts. The Reds are a middling offense right now with just Elly De La Cruz and Spencer Steer showing consistency at the plate. Christian Encarnacion-Strand has looked better as of late, but Wheeler’s stuff looks so good right now, I have to back him today.
Expert Phills vs. Reds Picks:
- Phillies First 5 Innings -0.5 Run Line (-110 on BetMGM)
- Zack Wheeler under 1.5 walks (-115 on BetMGM)
Padres vs, Rockies Prediction: Thursday, April 25
My only wish for this game was that there were better props available to pick on Rockies starter Dakota Hudson. Unfortunately, the books have been super-tight with this game and betting a -175 prop just isn’t going to do it for us. I also wish I knew if Manny Machado was going to be available (paternity leave) as he’s got some fierce numbers to flaunt here. Ah well. Kudos to the books for making things tough on us, but we’ll still find a but of value here and target against Hudson.
Expert Padres vs. Rockies Picks:
- Padres First 5 Innings Team Total over 2.5 runs (-135 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Friday should be significantly better, so again, don’t bet heavy today and let’s just slowly build that bankroll.
Player News
Kyle Farmer went 3-for-4 with two doubles in a loss to the Padres on Friday.
Farmer was responsible for all three hits for the Rockies in another ugly offensive performance for the Rockies. He can’t be traded until June, but the 34-year-old will definitely be a potential target due to his versatility this summer.
Gavin Sheets homered and walked in a blowout win Friday over the Rockies.
Fernando Tatis Jr. homered while going 2-for-4 with a stolen base in a victory over the Rockies on Friday.
Nick Pivetta struck out 10 over seven scoreless frames to help the Padres to an 8-0 win Friday over the Rockies.
Germán Márquez allowed six runs — five earned — over 4 2/3 innings while taking a loss to the Padres on Friday.
Miguel Andujar hit a two-run homer and drove in three in a loss Friday to the Mets.
Andujar has his first homer of the season with a two-run shot off Griffin Canning. He also singled in a run in the second, so he’s up to six RBI over the first 14 games. He’s hit well for the most part with a .310/.356/.405 slash, but it’s nice to see some pop from Andujar. Just keep in mind that the A’s have several young bats in the minors who could usurp the 30-year-old if he struggles.
