Astralis Talent (World rank: #97) vs. Spirit Academy (World rank: #119) – 12:00 P.M. ET
Moneyline Odds: Astralis Talent (-135) | Spirit Academy (+110)
Top Play:
OWNER - Over 18.0 Kills vs. Astralis Talent (Map 1)
OWNER has been a top player at WePlay Academy League Season 5. On the CT side at this event, OWNER leads all players with a 1.69 Rating and 2.33 K/D ratio across four maps played. He has a 1.29 Rating across all rounds during that time , which makes him the highest-rated player on Spirit Academy, as well as the sixth highest-rated player overall at the event. Spirit Academy have played some one-sided maps including a 16-0 win against Eternal Fire Academy and a 2-16 loss against MOUZ NXT, so it should be noted that OWNER has averaged 0.85 kills per round, which means he has shown high kill potential especially if this series stays competitive.
Astralis Talent are slight favorites per the odds, but I think Spirit Academy are a capable underdog. Spirit Academy are the fourth highest-rated team at the event with a 1.14 Team Rating compared to just a 0.91 Team Rating for Astralis Talent. Spirit Academy are also top-four in K/D ratio at 1.13, compared to only a 0.85 K/D ratio for Astralis Talent. Both of these teams lost to NAVI Junior, while Spirit Academy dominated Eternal Fire Academy 16-0 and Astralis Talent played them close in a 16-13 win. However, the opposite can be said about MOUZ NXT as Spirit Academy got bullied in a 2-16 loss while Astralis Talent managed a more respectable score in a 10-16 loss, so these teams have had fairly similar results at this event. I just don't see any reason why Astralis should be favored here. All things considered, I expect Spirit Academy to win plenty of rounds in this spot, which means OWNER can easily exceed 18 kills if he even comes close to continuing his recent outstanding form.
