On Friday at the WGC-Dell Match Play, World No. 63 and WGC debutant Takumi Kanaya put a 5&4 beatdown on 39-seed Lucas Herbert and then in a playoff to determine the Group 7 winner, won on the first hole with a conceded par.

After missing the cut last week at the Sony Open in Hawaii, world No. 53 Takumi Kanaya heads to the DP World Tour where he’ll make his tournament debut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

World No. 51 Takumi Kanaya will make his third career start this week at the Sony Open in Hawaii and aims to make the cut for the first time at Waialae CC in Honolulu.

Japan’s Takumi Kanaya has the distinction of finishing the 2021 calendar year at No. 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking, thus securing his invitation to the 2022 Masters.
