2025 Player Outlook

Montgomery's debut is coming in 2025, and the team has said that they will give him every opportunity to win the shortstop job out of spring training. Montgomery struggled a bit at the Triple-A level in 2024, but he's one of Chicago's top prospects, and he put some strong numbers in the lower levels of the minors. The big jump in strikeout rate last year was concerning, but he's still very young, and he has impressive power for his position. I'm a bit skeptical on the likelihood that the team makes him their shortstop on Opening Day after hitting .214 at Triple-A last year, but he's a name to keep on the radar, because whenever he joins the big-league club, he'll need to be rostered in all formats.
