2025 Player Outlook

While Assad ended the year with a 3.73 ERA (4.64 FIP), it’s worth noting that he opened his first 10 starts of the year with a 4-0 record, 1.70 ERA, and 1.11 WHIP. However, his next 19 starts yielded a 3-6 record, 4.88 ERA, and 1.56 WHIP. It was basically a tale of two stretches for Assad, and for 2025, he should settle somewhere between the two versions we saw last season. His page on Baseball Savant is littered with blue, which isn’t good, and the lack of swings out of the zone, and whiffs, is concerning when projecting his strikeout rate in 2025. If he struggles, he could be one of the arms the teams move out of the rotation in favor of some of its up-and-coming prospects, which would significantly affect his fantasy value. Outside of deeper NL-only formats, Assad doesn’t need to be on your radar.
