Veteran Eric Chavez, who has battled knee problems all season, is retiring.

The Diamondbacks transfer INF Eric Chavez to 60-day disabled list.

Update: Eric Chavez (knee) will not require surgery.

Diamondbacks placed Eric Chavez on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left knee.
