2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Lodolo only made seven starts last season, and the numbers weren't great, namely his 6.29 ERA (5.79 FIP), 2.62 HR/9, and 40.2 percent hard hit rate. However, he had two starts (vs. TEX, vs. TB) where he was shelled, allowing 14 earned runs and five home runs across 8.2 IP. If you remove those two treacherous outings, he posted a 3.51 ERA and 12.97 K/9!
2024 Outlook: Hopefully the time off has given him the time needed to address the issues in his shin/calf, and ultimately win a job in the team's rotation out of camp. When healthy, he generates a healthy number of swings-and-misses, and he can get opposing hitters to leave the zone. When he gets ahead of hitters, he's a nightmare to face, and when he runs hot, he's elite on the mound. Remember, back in 2022, he ended the year with a 2.48 ERA and 12.14 K/9 over his final six starts. He'll need a strong and healthy camp to win a job, but if he does, he's worth a late round flier.
