2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: In his first extended action in the majors, Peguero held his own, slashing .237/.280/.374 with seven home runs and six stolen bases across 59 games with Pittsburgh. His strikeout rate (31.5%) and walk rate (5.2%) are a bit concerning, as is his 13.8 percent swinging strike rate and 73 percent contact rate. Nonetheless, he's just 23-years-old and there's plenty of growth and maturation still to occur.
2024 Outlook: He'll be competing with Ji Hwan Bae for regular at-bats at second base, but he'll need to display some maturation in the batter's box, or opposing pitchers will take advantage of his plate discipline, or lack thereof, in 2024. His 2021 and 2022 seasons in the minors show optimism for his development as a power-speed guy in the bigs, but he's a risky pick in 2024.
