Rojas figures to split time between several infield spots for the White Sox after missing the first five weeks of the regular season recovering from a right toe fracture.

This move was announced earlier this week and is now official. It looks like Lenyn Sosa will get the chance to replace Rojas at second base to start the season.

So will Mike Tauchman, who is dealing with a hamstring issue. Rojas has a fractured toe, and the pain tolerance isn’t to a point where the White Sox feel comfortable playing him. With Tauchan and Rojas unavailable, Travis Jankowski and Nick Maton have been informed they’ve made the Opening Day roster.

Rojas continues to receive treatment after being diagnosed earlier this week with a hairline fracture in his right big toe. The 30-year-old infielder appears poised to be ready in time for next week’s season opener, barring any setbacks. He’s the favorite to open the year as Chicago’s starting shortstop.
