WNBA DFS Playbook June 22: Top DraftKings & FanDuel WNBA DFS Picks
Most of the time when we talk about the importance of breaking news in a given WNBA DFS slate, we are talking about players missing games. If a rotation player is suddenly unavailable, it often opens the door for a cheaper player to get more minutes/usage, and often more fantasy points. That is certainly the case in Thursday’s WNBA DFS slate, with Brionna Jones’s injury opening up opportunities for her teammates. One of the most important aspects of this slate, however, is players returning to the court.
Morgan Bertsch played well Tuesday in her first action in nearly four weeks, but now she has to contend with Kristine Anigwe returning from Eurobasket. Similarly, you have Dorka Juhasz returning for Minnesota and Natasha Cloud probable for Washington. Some of the potential values that we might have been interested in are suddenly not as viable. Be sure to keep that in mind as the news comes down throughout the evening.
WNBA DFS Picks June 22
Guards | ||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Tiffany Hayes | CON | MIN | 6900 | 20.62 | 5100 | 20.38 |
If Hayes's pattern of one good game then one bad game continues, then we should play her Sunday against Chicago. That being said, Connecticut is losing 15.9 ppg with Brionna Jones out and two of Connecticut's starters are offensive liabilities. I expect Hayes to get double-digit FGA for the first time this month, and this is as cheap as she has been all season.
Jordan Horston | SEA | IND | 8400 | 20.54 | 5600 | 20.78 |
Horston has played at least 26 minutes in five of her last seven games, with at least 29 fantasy points in four of those. I'll feel better about this call if she returns to the starting lineup but her ownership will probably be lower off the bench.
Jewell Loyd | SEA | IND | 10900 | 39.85 | 8600 | 37.65 |
Loyd is difficult to afford, especially on FanDuel, but she is by far the best guard on this slate. Loyd has at least 39.5 fantasy points in six of her 10 games this season.
Kelsey Mitchell | IND | SEA | 8800 | 25.27 | 6100 | 23.87 |
Seattle is eighth in fantasy points allowed to guards; among teams on the slate, only Minnesota has allowed more. Mitchell has at least 20 fantasy points in nine of her 11 games this season, and if you cannot afford Loyd, Mitchell is the safest guard remaining.
Ivana Dojkic | SEA | IND | 7200 | 16.86 | 5100 | 16.57 |
Dojkic struggled Tuesday, ending her streak of four straight games with at least 23 fantasy points. I don't see any reason why she can't start a new streak against Indiana, and she'll be a nice value if she does.
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Lexie Hull | IND | SEA | 4400 | 10.34 | 4200 | 10.46 |
I'm not sure we want to use any cheap guards Thursday, but Hull could see heavy minutes with Victoria Vivians and Grace Berger both doubtful. Maya Caldwell and Kristy Wallace are both candidates for added playing time as well. |

Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Olivia Nelson-Ododa | CON | MIN | 3700 | 6.56 | 3400 | 7.13 |
Nelson-Ododa has filled in well as the backup big in Connecticut, and she should see plenty of minutes if Brionna Jones cannot go. Nelson-Ododa is averaging 0.71 fppm, and it wouldn't take much for her to return value.
NaLyssa Smith | IND | SEA | 9400 | 28.98 | 6100 | 26.66 |
You could talk me into pivoting to Shakira Austin, especially on DraftKings, but Smith has demonstrated a much higher ceiling this season.
Morgan Bertsch | CHI | WAS | 5800 | 17.88 | 5000 | 17.27 |
In the three games Bertsch has not left early due to injury, she has played at least 20 minutes and averaged 21.2 fppg. Even though she was great off the bench Sunday, I'll feel better about playing her if she starts.
Alyssa Thomas | CON | MIN | 11500 | 44.83 | 9400 | 43.88 |
I would be tempted to pivot to Napheesa Collier but with so much roster turmoil in Minnesota, Thomas is pretty clearly safer. Thomas has at least 36.75 fantasy points in 12 of her 13 starts, including 53.75 fantasy points at Minnesota at the start of the month.
Napheesa Collier | MIN | CON | 11300 | 39.27 | 8800 | 39.35 |
In the seven games Diamond Miller has missed, Collier is averaging 43.4 fantasy points. I'm probably paying up for Alyssa Thomas if I can but Collier is $600 cheaper on FanDuel and you may be able to afford them both on DraftKings. |
