UFC 305 Predictions & Picks: Saturday, August 17th

Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus Du Plessis: Adesanya ML -118

He is the more technical striker, and he seems to really be invested in this fight. I don’t expect him to come out and be complacent and let Du Plessis dictate. I expect Izzy to mix up his strikes and really focus on the body and eventually slow down Dricus and find the late stoppage or at least win the later rounds to win the fight.

UFC 305 Parlay: Steve Erceg ML + Jack Jenkins ML -120

Jenkins is -700 for a good reason as he is fighting someone who has literally three minutes of cardio before falling apart, and Jenkins is only going to get stronger the later the fight goes. Erceg was five minutes away from being the champion of the division and I expect him to be the better fighter no matter where his fight takes place. Adding Jenkins to bring the line down from -166 to -120 may be a little greedy but I’m taking it this week.

 

 

 

Junior Tafa vs. Valter Walker: Walker ML +110

Walker is the much better grappler, and Tafa has been controlled by any opponent who tries to wrestle. Walker looks to be in career best shape, and the fact we are getting him at a dog price is a pretty big surprise for me. As long as he doesn’t get clipped shooting in for a takedown, I expect him to look like he should have been -300.

Mateusz Gamrot vs. Dan Hooker: Hooker ML +280 (Long Shot Bet)

Gamrot has been knocked down in 4 of his last 5 fights but no one has been able to fully put him out. Hooker is a huge underdog, and I think he can have enough big moments in each round to take this fight. I’m also betting him by KO at +800 if you are looking for an even longer price. Gamrot will get takedowns, but if each round takes place on the feet for more than two minutes, I think Hooker can win by doing more damage.
