The PGA Tour's FedExCup Fall heads to Japan for the 2024 ZOZO Championship at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club near Tokyo. Known for its unique setup, each hole features two greens, with only one used per round.

The small size of the greens led to a 63% greens-in-regulation rate last year, emphasizing approach shots and short-game skills.

Zozo Championship 2024: Daily Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections

After being temporarily relocated to California in 2020 due to COVID-19, Narashino is hosting for the fourth consecutive year and fifth time overall. The tournament offers an $8.5 million purse, the largest in the FedExCup Fall. Previous winners at Narashino include Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, and Tiger Woods, who notably won in 2019 despite a rocky start.

The 78-player field consists of 60 PGA Tour players, four sponsor exemptions, and 14 Japan Golf Tour members, including seven of the top 40 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, making this one of the strongest fields of the fall season.

Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club: Course Breakdown This Week

Narashino Country Club, near Tokyo, has been a premier course since its 1976 design by Kinya Fujita. It hosted Japan’s first PGA Tour event in 2019, where Tiger Woods famously won the inaugural ZOZO Championship. The course blends traditional parkland features with unique dual greens, designed to manage seasonal weather changes while adding strategic complexity.

The tree-lined course creates a corridor-like feel on each hole, offering a mix of hole types, including four short par 4s under 405 yards and five challenging par 4s from 486 to 505 yards. Accurate drives are crucial as the fairways, though slightly forgiving, can be punishing for errant shots. Small, contoured Bentgrass greens emphasize precise approach play.

Recent winners, including Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama, and Keegan Bradley, have excelled in ball striking and long iron play. Driving distance is also key, making this a test for players with power and precision. The $8.5 million purse and no-cut format make the ZOZO Championship the standout fall event.

Collin Morikawa returns to defend his ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP title after ending a two-year winless streak. He’s had a strong season with eight top-10 finishes, including two runner-ups.

World No. 2 Xander Schauffele also returns, known for his consistency with 20 top-25 finishes in 21 events this season, including two major wins. Hideki Matsuyama, a former ZOZO champion and two-time winner this season, is also in the field.

Other top names competing include Sahith Theegala, Sungjae Im, Max Homa, and Justin Thomas. Kevin Yu, currently 60th in the FedExCup Fall standings, aims to secure his spot in the Aon Next 10 after missing the cut at the Shriners Children’s Open. S.H. Kim, ranked 123rd in the FedExCup, is focused on retaining his position.

Local talents like Ryo Ishikawa, who finished T4 last year, and Satoshi Kodaira, with two recent top-20 finishes at Narashino, add to the excitement, alongside Japan Golf Tour winner Takahiro Hataji.

PGA Best Bets & Predictions: ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

PGA DFS Picks: Top Tier

COLLIN MORIKAWA ($10,500)

With a $1,000 savings compared to Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa offers better value for lineup building this week. Morikawa won last year's ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP at Accordia CC by six strokes, closing with a 7-under 63, the lowest round of the event.

He has two top-seven finishes at Accordia over the past three years and was the low scorer at the TOUR Championship in August with a -22. With five top-five finishes in his last 10 starts, a repeat win is well within reach.

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA ($10,200)

Hideki Matsuyama has returned to form this season, no longer hindered by the back and neck problems that had affected him in recent years. The last time he played at Narashino Country Club while fully healthy, he won the 2021 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP.

Now, with his injuries behind him, Matsuyama is back to his old self and ready for another strong performance at a course where he's already proven he can excel when in peak condition.

PGA DFS Picks: Mid-Tier

BEAU HOSSLER ($8,900)

Beau Hossler is coming off an impressive performance at Accordia CC, where he finished as the runner-up to Collin Morikawa last year after placing T16 in 2022. Among players with multiple appearances at this course, Hossler ranks first in strokes gained per round, highlighting his skill.

This fall, he has continued to shine, with finishes of 2nd, 11th, and 23rd in his last three tournaments. Hossler excels on Accordia’s unique layout. Currently, he’s in fantastic form, shooting under par in eight straight rounds, making him a strong contender with top-five upside this weekend.

GARY WOODLAND ($7,800)

Gary Woodland has been in strong form this fall, with a T16 finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship and a T9 at the Shriners Children’s Open. His success is largely due to stellar ball striking, gaining over 5 strokes on approach in both events.

The 2019 U.S. Open champion has shown improved putting, gaining 3.7 strokes on the greens at the Shriners. Woodland ranks in the top six for both SG: Tee-to-Green and SG: Approach over the last 24 rounds, making him a solid top-10 candidate this week.

PGA DFS Picks: Value Tier

LEE HODGES ($6,800)

Lee Hodges has shown consistency at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, finishing inside the top 25 in both of his past appearances at Accordia. Although he missed the cut at the Shriners Children’s Open, he still gained strokes on approach, proving his ball-striking is in good form.

Before that, he secured a T8 finish at the Black Desert Championship, ranking fifth in strokes gained on approach. With his solid track record at Narashino and strong recent iron play, Hodges is primed for a rebound this week and offers excellent value as a sub-$7,000 cash game option.

RYO ISHIKAWA ($6,200)

Ryo Ishikawa heads into the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP with promising form and a solid history at Accordia. He tied for fourth here last year, proving he can hold his own in a competitive field.

While his season has had some challenges, including a missed cut at the U.S. Open, he’s also shown flashes of brilliance on the Japan Tour, with a win, a runner-up finish, and a T8 at last week’s Japan Open. Last year, he followed a runner-up finish at the Japan Open with a top-5 at the ZOZO, suggesting he’s primed for another strong performance.
