As we wrap up the four majors and the Olympics, it's time to bring the PGA Tour season to a close. The Wyndham Championship is the last regular-season event of 2024 before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin. This week, golfers are making one final push to break into the top 70 in FedEx Cup points to secure their spots in the playoffs.

The field might not be the strongest, but the drama is off the charts. Many players have their Tour cards on the line, making this event a must-watch. The tournament runs from Thursday through Sunday with a $7.9 million purse, including $1.42 million for the winner. Lucas Glover, last year's champ, is back to defend his title.

Some big names are currently sitting outside the top 70, including Victor Perez (71), Nicolai Hojgaard (80), Adam Svensson (82), Rickie Fowler (104), and Joel Dahmen (117). These guys are fighting to secure their playoff spots, which adds to the excitement.

Sedgefield Country Club: Course Breakdown

Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, designed by Donald Ross in 1925, still challenges PGA Tour players nearly a century later. Ross used the natural rolling hills and diverse grasses to create a visually stunning and tricky course.

Sedgefield is all about precision. Its narrow fairways and multi-tiered greens demand smart shots and careful planning. At 7,131 yards, it’s not about long drives but accurate ones. Hitting the fairway is crucial—players who do have an 80% greens-in-regulation rate, while those who miss drop below 55%.

The course features two par-5s, both reachable in two shots, making them some of the easiest on Tour. The par-3s are also relatively easy, but the par-4s are tough, with small greens and tight angles that make scrambling a challenge.

Sedgefield has hosted the Wyndham Championship since 2008. It’s the last stop before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, adding extra drama as players scramble to secure their spots. The Bermuda grass and late summer graininess can trip up those not used to it. Knowing the course is key, as most approach shots come from within 175 yards.

For success, focus on driving accuracy and good drives gained, especially on approach shots within 175 yards from the fairway. Include scrambling stats from the rough, SG: Around the Greens (Bermuda), long-term Bermuda putting, and par-4 birdie or better rates in your strategy. Watch the weather and player ownership as the week goes on to fine-tune your picks. Here’s to an exciting tournament!

2024 Wyndham Championship Field

The Wyndham Championship always brings a mix of players, some aiming to secure their spot in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and others looking to fine-tune their game. This year, around 20 golfers, including Shane Lowry, Nick Taylor, Min Woo Lee, and Nicolai Højgaard, are coming straight from the Olympics to compete.

Forty of the top 70 in the FedExCup standings are set to tee it up in Greensboro. After this tournament, the top 70 will move on to the first Playoffs event in Memphis. Since Grayson Murray is out, the 71st player will also make the cut for the Playoffs.

Right now, Brendon Todd is holding onto that crucial 70th spot, while Victor Perez, fresh off nearly winning an Olympic bronze, is sitting at 71, with Davis Riley close behind at 72. All three will be in Greensboro, trying to secure their positions. Keegan Bradley, making his first appearance at Sedgefield since 2017, will join them.

There are 16 in-season winners in the mix, including Jhonattan Vegas, who finished 15th here in 2021. Jordan Spieth, currently 63rd in the standings, is back for the first time since 2020. Other notable names like Brian Harman, Cameron Young, Billy Horschel, and Justin Rose will also be competing.

Lucas Glover, aiming to become the first back-to-back winner since the 1950s, will be in the field. Rising star Luke Clanton and Stanford alum Michael Thorbjornsen received sponsor invites, along with Patton Kizzire and Wesley Bryan. Past champions Bill Haas and Brandt Snedeker round out this exciting field.

PGA DFS Picks: Wyndham Championship

Top-Price DFS 2024 Wyndham Championship

Sungjae Im ($10,700)

Im is on a serious roll right now and honestly should be priced over $11,000 this week, especially with the competition looking a bit weak. The 26-year-old just nailed a T7 at the Open Championship and has been a top 12 machine, landing in that range in eight of his last 10 starts.

He’s been solid across the board in his last few tournaments, gaining strokes in every major category in three of his last four outings. Plus, he’s got a great track record at Sedgefield with three top 10 finishes in five tries, including a runner-up spot in 2022. With how well he’s playing and his history at this course, he’s in a prime spot to snag his third PGA TOUR win this weekend. If you’re setting up your cash game lineup, making sure Im is part of it is a no-brainer.

Billy Horschel ($10,200)

Billy Horschel has really turned things up since April, and it’s been pretty impressive. He grabbed a win in the Dominican Republic, had a solid top 10 finish at the PGA Championship, and just last month he was the runner-up at the Open Championship. He’s clearly on a hot streak.

When it comes to the Wyndham Championship, Horschel’s got a great track record. He’s landed in the top six in four of his last seven visits, and he was solo fourth just last year. With how well he’s been playing and his past success at this course, Horschel is definitely someone you’ll want to consider for your lineup.

Brian Harman ($9,300)

Brian Harman really seems to up his game on shorter, strategic courses like Sedgefield, and this week should be no different. The 2023 Champion Golfer of the Year has a great track record at the Wyndham Championship with several top 10 finishes and even a runner-up spot at the Players this season.

Sure, his title defense at the Open didn’t quite go as planned, but he still showed he’s got the chops by gaining 3.4 strokes off the tee at Royal Troon. With his top-notch accuracy and strong play with short to middle irons, Harman should be a great fit for Sedgefield. If you're putting together your lineup, he’s definitely one to keep in mind.

Mid-Price DFS 2024 Wyndham Championship

Cam Davis ($8,900)

Cam Davis is on fire right now and is definitely one to watch, especially on a Donald Ross course. He’s been on a hot streak with a win, a 26th, and a 19th place in his last three starts. That win came at the Detroit Golf Club during the Rocket Mortgage Classic—Davis’ second victory there, which is pretty impressive.

He’s also done well at Sedgefield, with no finish worse than 22nd in three tries, including a career-best 7th place last season. Plus, he’s been gaining strokes on approach in his last three starts. With his recent form and solid track record at Sedgefield, Davis could definitely pull off another top 10 finish this weekend. If you’re setting up your lineup, he’s a solid pick to consider.

Robert MacIntyre ($8,300)

Robert MacIntyre is on a serious hot streak after his big wins at the Canadian Open and the Scottish Open. He’s sitting pretty at 17th in points, which probably means he’s already good for the TOUR Championship. So, technically, he doesn’t need to play this week.

But when you’re as dialed in as he is, why not keep the momentum going? MacIntyre’s putting game is solid, ranking in the top 50, and he’s also pretty strong on par 4s, sitting in the top 25. If he decides to tee it up this week, don’t be surprised if he keeps the good times rolling. He’s definitely a player to watch!

Eric Cole ($7,700)

Eric Cole is getting back into form after a rough patch earlier in the season. He’s been playing some solid golf recently, with back-to-back top 10 finishes at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the John Deere Classic. Plus, he held his own at the Open Championship in Scotland, finishing 31st and picking up over four strokes on approach.

Now, he’s heading back to a course where he finished 14th last year, and I’m expecting him to do even better this time around. With how well he’s been playing lately, Cole could definitely make a strong showing. If you’re looking to pick a player who’s on the upswing, Cole is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Value-Price DFS 2024 Wyndham Championship

Taylor Moore ($7,500)

Taylor Moore is looking like a solid pick this week. He’s had some great results at the Wyndham Championship, finishing 5th and 22nd the past two years. He’s also fresh off a strong 12th place at the 3M Open, where he was solid across most stats, even if the driver wasn’t quite on point.

Last month, Moore finished 10th at Detroit Golf Club, another Donald Ross design, which bodes well for this week. With seven top 25 finishes this season, he’s proven he’s in good form. For a bit of context, he was priced at $8,000 for last year’s Wyndham Championship, so he’s definitely a good value option this time around. If you’re setting up your lineup, Moore is definitely worth a look!

Andrew Novak ($7,100)

Andrew Novak is really coming into form just when he needs it most for a playoff push. He’s made five straight cuts and has four top 25 finishes, including a top 10, which has helped him climb to 84th in the points. He didn’t do too well in his Wyndham debut back in 2022, but he improved with a 33rd-place finish last year.

Right now, he’s sitting 21st on Tour in Strokes Gained: Total, which means he’s playing well across the board. Novak’s recent form makes him a player to keep an eye on as he aims to make a strong finish and snag a playoff spot. If you’re looking for someone who’s hitting their stride at the right time, Novak is definitely worth considering.

Ben Kohles ($6,900)

Ben Kohles has been playing pretty steady lately, with only two missed cuts in his last 12 starts. He’s done well on Ross-designed courses, finishing 56th at Pinehurst No. 2 for the U.S. Open and 20th at Detroit Golf Club for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Kohles has also made 2 out of 3 cuts at Sedgefield, and his accuracy off the tee is a big advantage for this week.

He’s ranked second in driving accuracy this season, which is key at Sedgefield. In fact, four of the last five winners there were top five in fairways found. Given his solid driving stats and past performances on similar courses, Kohles is looking good for a strong finish this week. If you’re picking players, Kohles is definitely someone to keep an eye on!
