PGA DFS Playbook The Sentry: Top DraftKings & FanDuel PGA DFS Picks

The PGA Daily Fantasy season is back! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.
This is the first year that this event will officially kick off the PGA Tour season. It is now known as The Sentry but still played on the island of Maui on the Plantation course at the Kapalua Resort. This is the first of 8 signature events on the PGA Tour schedule. The winner of the event will receive 700 FedEx Cup points and the purse is $20 million dollars which is a 25 percent increase from 2023. They also get the honor of playing on one of the most beautiful courses in the world.
We will see only 59-players in the field and there will be no cut. This event holds a special place in my heart not because of the tournament itself but because I've had the pleasure of playing the course on my honeymoon. I will not tell you what I shot but it definitely got into the triple digits. I still wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. The course has been updated since I played it nearly nine years ago but only for the better.
This course was renovated in 2019 by the original designers Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore. It is now the only par 73 (3 Par 3s & 4 Par 5s) on the PGA Tour schedule. The course nearly reaches 7,600 yards with huge elevation changes throughout the course. When you are dealing with an island course, the first thing you have to take into account is the wind. That'll be the main defense on this course. According to the forecast, the wind will be relatively tame with winds in the teens throughout the weekend. Most of these players can handle those numbers but there are definitely guys who excel under those conditions.
You’ve got a terrific field with players like Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Tom Kim to name a few. There will be one big huge noticeable name not in the field this weekend and that’s Jon Rahm. I’m extremely sad to see him gone but I can’t blame him especially if these tours eventually do merge, why not take the money while it’s still being offered? I’m hoping that’s the end result of all this and we can move on with all the best players competing, week in and week out.
We have a shortened playbook this week with such a small field with my example lineups. Next week’s Sony Open will be my first full playbook event of 2024. I wish you all the best of luck this weekend but remember we've got a long way to go, so don't go too crazy the first week.
Good luck this weekend.
