PGA DFS Coverage for Butterfield Bermuda Championship

It was really nice to see the best in the world tee it up at THE CJ CUP but we are back to the reality of the fall PGA Tour schedule. The field strength drops significantly this weekend. While this won’t be the cream of the chop on the PGA Tour, we will see one of the best venues for these players in Bermuda. They will play four rounds on the beautiful Port Royal Golf Club in Southampton Parish. Lucas Herbert will not defend his title this weekend but 2020 champ Brian Gay will be in the field. There will be no clear cut favorite this weekend which will make things really fun putting together our lineups.

The Field: Butterfield Bermuda Championship

As mentioned above, the stars were out for one week only and now go back into hibernation for a few weeks. We’ve got a bunch of players who are typically in the 7K and 6K range sitting at the top of the pricing sheet on DraftKings. There is only one player in the field that is currently in the Top 50 in the world golf rankings. The top priced player on DraftKings is Thomas Detry and while he’s a good player, he’s not worth $10,500 but that’s the price you pay this week.

The Course: Port Royal Golf Course

Robert Trent Jones designed this gem on the Bermuda coastline. If you have ever played one of his courses, you know they are not for the faint of heart. The course features all the typical challenges of playing on an island from the wind to the course size. It measures just 6,828 yards and plays as a Par 71. We will see six holes that run alongside the ocean which means wind will be a major factor this weekend. While distance is nice being a short course, wind control will be vital to success. There are only three par 5s on the course and all of them are reachable in two which will give these players lots of opportunities to go low. It will be very important for these players to hit these fairways and that cannot be overstated. The par-3s will be a challenge as two of them can reach over 230 yards. When you look at the previous winner, none of them would ever be called a bomber off the tee. They all keep the ball on fairways and greens.  The greens will not challenge even the average PGA Tour player but the terrific putters will have an added advantage.

The Weather: Bermuda

When you see that the players are heading to Bermuda for a golf tournament, you think of sunny skies, island breezes and maybe an occasional passing shower. That will not be the case this weekend.  The weather forecast is calling for thunderstorms throughout the four day tournament with winds ranging from 10 to 20 mph. If we do get those really nasty wet conditions, it will give the bigger hitters an added advantage.

How To Watch the Butterfield Bermuda Championship

I have to say how happy I am to have another tournament in a more traditional time zone. This will be another easy week for us to follow the television schedule for this event. The tournament will air from 1:30p-4:30p ET Thursday thru Sunday on the Golf Channel.
