PGA DFS Coverage for the RBC Heritage
It was quite a week in Augusta and while we all could really use a week to decompress and catch our breath, we can’t! The PGA Tour scheduled another one of their designated events this weekend in Hilton Head at the RBC Heritage. Typically this event might bring in only a few of the top-tier players, but we will see seven of the world’s Top 10 in attendance on the tiny island in South Carolina. This course is a beautiful setting for a terrific tournament with a rich tradition from the mossy oak trees to the signature red and white striped lighthouse that overlooks the 18th green. It should be a fun week in the Palmetto State.
The Field: RBC Heritage
The week got off to a sour note with the report that Rory McIlory has withdrawn from the event. He gave no reason as to why he pulled out but speculation is fatigue after his disappointment at the Masters last weekend. Even without Rory, we’ve got world number one and 2023 Masters champion, Jon Rahm teeing it up alongside the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, Sam Burns, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Cameron Young. Jordan Spieth returns as defending champion after his playoff victory over Patrick Cantlay last year. Will Zalatoris was slated to play this weekend but after withdrawing from the Masters, it was reported he’ll miss the remainder of the season after having back surgery. We will see previous RBC Heritage winners like Satoshi Kodaira, C.T. Pan, Webb Simpson, Davis Love III and three-time winner Stewart Cink tee it up at Harbour Town.
The Course: Harbour Town Golf Links
Harbour Town just barely stretches over 7,100 yards which is almost like a mini golf course to the pros on the PGA Tour. While you might think these golfers will need to put up a 20 under to win this weekend, you’d be mistaken. The average winning score over the last eight editions is just 14 under par. The course defends itself with very narrow fairways guarded by hundreds of live oaks and pines and small contoured greens. It’s also an island which means you have to take the winds into account as well. These players will be smart and not try to overpower this golf course because it can and will bite you in the ass.
The Weather: Hilton Head, South Carolina
After last weekend at Augusta, I think everyone was hoping to see no more rain for a while but no such luck. It looks like we will see thunderstorms throughout the day on Friday. They are also calling for more on Sunday as well. We are likely to see more rounds getting shifted like we did at the Masters.
How To Watch the RBC Heritage
The RBC Heritage will air exclusively on the Golf Channel on Thursday and Friday between 2-6pm ET. The weekend coverage will begin on Golf Channel from 1-3pm ET and then move over to CBS from 3-6pm ET.
