PGA DFS Preview: RBC Canadian Open
PGA DFS Coverage for the RBC Canadian Open
We saw golf return last year to Canada for the first time in three years. The province of Ontario plays host to this event at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Our neighbors to the north saw Rory McIlory beat out Tony Finau and Justin Thomas to take home the title in 2022. This event last year was the first time the LIV Tour had a competing event going on at the same time. It was a huge win for Rory as a statement for the PGA Tour’s dominance. There is no LIV Event this weekend. We should have another fun weekend of PGA DFS action ahead of us!
The Field: RBC Canadian Open
This event welcomes a full field of 156 players this weekend. We will see a pretty solid field of PGA Tour pros like defending champion Rory McIlory alongside Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Sam Burns, Shane Lowry, Cameron Young, and Sahith Theegala. We will see a good contingent of homegrown Canadians participating this weekend led by Corey Conners, Adam Svensson and MacKenzie Hughes. This event had to compete with the debut of the LIV Tour in 2022 but not this year, all the focus of the golf world will be in the great white north.
The Course: Oakdale Golf and Country Club
This will be the first time Oakdale in its nearly 100 year history has hosted the Canadian national championship. It was designed by renowned architect Stanley Thompson and features a diverse and challenging layout, incorporating natural features such as trees, water hazards, and strategic bunkers to test players' skills. Oakdale's scenic beauty is enhanced by its serene surroundings, with rolling terrain and lush landscapes adding to the overall charm. The course has a beautiful combination of history and natural beauty located in the heart of Toronto.
The Weather: Toronto, Canada
The weather significantly cools off after last weekend’s humidity for these players. They will experience temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s throughout the weekend. There is about a 50 percent chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. No real advantage to playing someone off their tee time.
How To Watch the RBC Canadian Open
Golf Channel will handle all of the TV coverage on Thursday and Friday from 3-6pm eastern. Once the weekend rolls around, CBS gets into the mix. The broadcast on Saturday and Sunday will start on Golf Channel from 2:30pm-5:30pm ET and then CBS takes over from 5:30pm-7:30pm ET.
