2023 John Deere Classic Betting Odds, Course Preview & Picks to Win
PGA DFS Coverage for the John Deere Classic
The John Deere Classic has been on the PGA Tour schedule since 1972. It takes place in the Quad Cities, more specifically Silvis, Illinois. While it is one of the longer running events, it will not have a great field for the second straight week. Over the years, it has been sponsored by the Miller Brewing Company, Hardees, and since 1999, John Deere. TPC Deere Run has been the host course since 2000 and there are players with long histories of success on this track. We will see another shoot out this weekend.
The Field: John Deere Classic
The 2022-2023 PGA Tour season is starting to close out with just five weeks remaining after this week. Lots of players are keeping their eyes on that Top 125 cut line to make it into the FedEx Cup Playoffs. That’s a factor you should take into account when picking players at TPC Deere Run. We’ve got players hovering around that number and need some high finishes to get into the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The field at the Rocket Mortgage will look major caliber in comparison to this weekend. More players are taking a much needed break to mentality and physically prepare for the upcoming Open Championship. We will only see one player inside the Top 20 of the world golf rankings, Cameron Young..
The Course: TPC John Deere
This course will never be known as one of the tougher on the PGA Tour schedule. The average winning score over the last eight editions is right around 21 under par. Michael Kim won this event in 2018 at 27 under. It is a Par 71 and reaches 7,268 yards. We need scorers in our lineups, guys who can go low consistently over four days. If a player hopes to stay in contention, they will have to shoot an average of 66 each day to stay with the pack. Players who have had success on this course hit the fairways a little over fifty percent of the time while they hit the greens close to seventy-five percent. It is a second shot golf course, meaning that these guys are firing at pins all day long. You don’t have to pay up for bombers this weekend especially when you look at the players who have had success here like Harris English, Chez Reavie, Jordan Spieth and Russell Knox.
Weather: Silvis, Illinois
As it stands on Monday night, the forecasted weather for this weekend in the Quad Cities is clear of any rain. We will see hot and humid temperatures reaching into the high 80s and low 90s. The wind will also be tame never reaching double digits.
