DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts
We have three games on this Sunday slate and lots of elite players to choose from. Toronto is heading to Florida looking to crawl out of an 0-2 hole, while Carolina Hurricanes are looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. We also have Dallas and Seattle facing off in Game Three, so there are a ton of good matchups to target with a lot of good value.

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups
Frederik Andersen, G, Carolina Hurricanes
I have no idea why DraftKings has Frederik Andersen at $7400 today, but we are going to jump all over that. Despite this series moving to New Jersey, Andersen has allowed just two goals in the previous two games and is going up against an offense that is ranked 16th in the playoffs. Are the Devils really going to come out tonight and light up the Hurricanes on home ice? No shot, so we’ll take the discount and move on.
Ilya Samsonov, G, Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs may be down 0-2 in their series, but it’s not because of Ilya Samsonov. Toronto has been unable to get many pucks past Sergei Bobrovsky, which is strange because they had no issues doing that during the regular season. The Leafs need to play better as a team and if Samsonov can just keep doing what he’s been doing this round, he’s going to win hockey games.
Jake Oettinger, G, Dallas Stars
I know it’s a lot to trust Jake Oettinger on the road against one of the hottest offenses in the regular season, but he going to surprise us tonight. Oettinger has better numbers on the road than on home ice, so this is a great spot to consider him. Dallas is a good hockey team, but they need to play better as a team. They need to find a way to contain this Seattle offense and I think they will come out tonight trying to vlog the neutral zone and take away any speed the Kraken have been generating. He’s the most expensive goalie on the slate, but worth every dollar.
Recommended DFS Skaters
Highest Expected Goal Totals
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (3.6)
Florida Panthers vs. Ilya Samsonov (3.1)
New Jersey Devils vs Frederik Andersen (3.1)
Dallas Stars vs. Philipp Grubauer (3.0)
Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups
Auston Matthews, C, Toronto Maple Leafs
I know paying $9700 for Auston Matthews on a short slate seems like a lot, but he is really worth the price of admission. He’s played over 24-minutes in the first two games and added 12 shots on goal. He hasn’t scored yet, but with that kind of ice time, it’s only a matter of time.
Joe Pavelski, W, Dallas Stars
Joe Pavelski has five goals in two games this series, so we will gladly take his $5800 price tag and run away. We know how good the veteran winger is at tipping pucks and he’s always around the front of the net. Pavelski knows how to be effective and I like his chances of hitting value tonight.
Matthew Tkachuk, W, Florida Panthers
How is Matthew Tkachuk under $8K for tonight? The man is in clear control of this series and many could argue that he’s the main reason why his team has made it this far. He’s not a shooter, but he plays a decent amount of minutes and is always around the puck. He already has four assists in the series and we know he’s going to add more to his total.
Luke Hughes, D, New Jersey Devils
Luke Hughes is expected to make his playoff debut tonight replacing the injured Ryan Graves. The rookie finished with two points in as many games during the regular season and we know that he can push the puck up the ice. I don’t think he’s going to see a ton of ice time tonight, so that does limit his upside, but his $2600 price tag allows us to pay up for another superstar, so the reward outweighs the risk.

Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Panthers released TE Jordan Matthews.
Matthews converted to tight end a few years ago and hasn’t made much noise at the position. The change has, however, likely kept him in the league for a few more seasons. He appeared in four games with the Panthers last year but didn’t record any stats on offense. The Panthers also released or waived WR Dax Milne, C Andrew Raym, and TE Colin Granger.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
