DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts
Welcome back to the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs! It may be a very uncomfortable night for Bruins and Avalanche fans with both the President's Trophy winner and the defending Stanley Cup champions on the brink of elimination in the first round on the same night. My instinct with these match ups is to stack the Avalanche and add Panthers players when you can. If you can find some way to fit Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Matthew Tkachuk into the same lineup that feels like it could be the right combination of top players as I expect most lineups today to be built around David Pastrnak and the Bruins. Alternatively, you can play the chalk and go with a lineup built around Pastrnak and Brad Marchand instead and you should be able to add Rantanen and go with two inexpensive centers.
Recommended DFS Starting Goalies
Top Options for Saves
Sergei Bobrovsky vs Boston Bruins
Philipp Grubauer vs Colorado Avalanche
Linus Ullmark vs Florida Panthers
Best Odds for a Win
Linus Ullmark vs Florida Panthers
Alexandar Georgiev vs Seattle Panthers
Philipp Grubauer vs Colorado Avalanche
Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups
Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Florida Panthers
it is never a bad idea to take the goalie that is likely to face the most shots. While it is difficult to trust the present-day version of Bobrovsky, he has certainly delivered performances in the past where he has been dominant. His ownership should be very low with the Bruins being heavy favourites and his price will also allow you to get top players into your lineup if you're willing to take on the risk.
Linus Ullmark, G, Boston Bruins
Ullmark based on the Vegas odds should be the most commonly used goalie today. With that said he isn't going to come cheap, so you will need to find value in other places if you're hoping to play it safe in goal today.
Alexandar Georgiev G, Colorado Avalanche
Much like Ullmark, you're going to have to pay up for the use of Georgiev. I personally prefer his odds to win over Ullmark, as I see the Panthers as being much more dangerous than the Kraken, but anything can happen in game seven. If you're planning to use Georgiev just know the upside is very low, as Seattle doesn't shoot a lot, so if he gives up three goals you are likely not going to get to value.
Recommended DFS Skaters
Highest Expected Goal Totals
Boston Bruins vs Sergei Bobrovsky
Colorado Avalanche vs Philipp Grubauer
Seattle Kraken vs Alexandar Georgiev
Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups
Nathan MacKinnon C, Colorado Avalanche
It will be difficult to pass up the floor of MacKinnon. Yes, he is the most expensive player on the slate, but he can break the game too, as he could give you multiple goals, and close to ten shots. I would expect the Avalanche to be playing with a lot of pride today as it is one thing to lose in the first round as the defending champs, its another to do it against an expansion team in their second season in the league.
Mikko Rantanen W, Colorado Avalanche
There are certainly moments where I think of Rantanen as a discount MacKinnon. He often provides a similar amount of points but often with much less ownership. This not only makes him an ideal stack with MacKinnon, but if you want to get some Boston players in and get some quality Avalanche players in, you can likely go with Pastrnak and Rantanen in the same lineup, and have some money left to spare as you're not paying top dollar in MacKinnon.
Jaden Schwartz W, Seattle Kraken
I really like the value of Schwartz today. In the last seven days, he has the most shots of any player, and you're going to get him at a very reasonable price. If all of those shots turn into a goal or two, he could be a difference maker as he shouldn't have a lot of ownership.
Matthew Tkachuk W, Florida Panthers
If the Panthers are going to pull the upset today, Tkachuk is going to be a big reason for it. The Panthers paid a hefty price in the offseason to acquire him, but they did it with the playoffs in mind. He has seven points in his last three games, and 12 shots in those games as well. Normally I would expect his ownership to be sky-high, but with the other players on the board today, and the Panthers' expected goal total low, he may not see a lot of ownership.
Charlie McAvoy, D, Boston Bruins
If you can get another performance from McAvoy as you did in game five, then you will be in business. He has back-to-back multi-point games, and he also has nine blocks in those two games and he had seven shots in game five as well. Outside of Cale Makar, I'm not sure anyone else can give you the upside of McAvoy today.

Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Panthers released TE Jordan Matthews.
Matthews converted to tight end a few years ago and hasn’t made much noise at the position. The change has, however, likely kept him in the league for a few more seasons. He appeared in four games with the Panthers last year but didn’t record any stats on offense. The Panthers also released or waived WR Dax Milne, C Andrew Raym, and TE Colin Granger.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
