NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Sunday Playbook

Published: Jan 12, 2025
Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! We have a small four-game slate with a few good options. Sometimes these slates can be hard to navigate, but there is still value that we can find and put together a winning lineup. Let’s take a look at some options and players we need to target.
NHL DFS Pick 'Em At Sleeper Today
Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
Sleeper NHL Picks, Sunday, January 12th:
- Brandon Hagel O/0.5 A
- Matt Duchene O/0.5 PTS
- Adin Hill U/23.5 SV
The Pittsburgh Penguins are playing their second game in as many nights and are coming off a terrible performance against the Senators. Brandon Hagel has been very good this season and there’s no reason that trend can’t continue today. He’s in a great spot to find the scoresheet and hopefully, it’s an assist.
Matt Duchene has found a role on Dallas’ second line and he’s been able to contribute offensively. He was very quiet against Montreal yesterday, but I like his matchup against Ottawa. The Senators aren’t exactly elite defensively, so Duchene can find his way onto the scoresheet.
Vegas has been outscored 6-1 in their last two games and have a date with the Minnesota Wild, who have been crushed by injuries over the last couple of weeks. Adin Hill hasn’t faced a ton of shots in his last four starts and I can’t imagine the Wild coming out and generating a ton of scoring chances. The 23.5 seems pretty low, but I’ll still trust him to go under.
SUNDAY SALARY CAP DFS
Goalie Of The Day: Pyotr Kochetkov - CAR
This is probably an obvious one. The Anaheim Ducks got pumped 5-0 by the Flyers and now they have to go into Carolina and try to score goals? Good luck. Pyotr Kochetkov’s price tag is up there, but his matchup on paper is beyond elite. He needs the win to hit value, which I don’t think should be an issue tonight.
Player Of The Day: Jake Guentzel - TBL
Jake Guentzel and the Tampa Bay Lightning are in Pittsburgh, so get ready for the revenge game. The veteran is going to want to show his former team that they should have never traded him away. He’s been scoring goals in bunches and I like his chances of hitting value.
Value Play Of The Day: Eric Robinson - CAR
There are so many ways we can pick on the Anaheim Ducks, but we’ll still try to find some value. Eric Robinson is skating on the second line and is seeing a decent amount of ice time. What draws me to him is his price tag--sitting at just $2600 on DraftKings-- because it’s good value and allows us to pay up for another superstar. You can’t go wrong with any of the big boys, but we still need value and Robinson provides that for us.
Stack Of The Day - CAR PP1 (Sebastian Aho - Seth Jarvis - Brent Burns)
We will continue to maximize value by stacking the power play unit. The Ducks are just not that good and it’s going to be hard to fade Carolina. Their ownership will be high on a short slate, but sometimes, you have to eat the chalk. If you don’t want to play Burns, you can swap him out for Andrei Svechnikov.
