NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Saturday Playbook

Published: Mar 29, 2025
Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! We have a smaller Saturday slate than usual, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be as fun. There are some good matchups to target and no shortage of value plays. Let’s dive right into the action and build a winning lineup.
NHL Pick 'Em At Sleeper Today
Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper. There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
Sleeper NHL Picks, Saturday, March 30th:
- David Pastrnak O/3.5 SOG
- Jeff Skinner O/2.5 SOG
- Drake Batherson O/0.5 G
The Boston Bruins are a mess, but David Pastrnak continues to be elite. We usually see his shot total around 4.5, so getting him at this number feels like a discount. The Red Wings aren’t great defensively and their penalty kill is a mess. Pastrnak will get his looks tonight and I like his chances of going over.
The Oilers are unlikely to get Leon Draisaitl back tonight and Connor McDavid has already been ruled out. Jeff Skinner has been playing a lot more of late and his shot volume has gone up. He has cleared 2.5 in the last four games, so why not make it five in a row?
Of Drake Batherson’s 20 goals this season, 14 of them have come on home ice. It’s not uncommon to see players have more success at home with a favourable matchup. The Blue Jackets gave up six goals yesterday and that was at home. Now they are on the road, where they REALLY struggle to keep the puck out of their own net. Look for Batherson to get one before the night is over.
SALARY CAP DFS
Goalie Of The Day: Darcy Kuemper - LAK
I know the Toronto Maple Leafs have players who can find the back of the net, but there is no way I’m betting against Darcy Kuemper. He is 16-1-2 on home ice and is a big reason why the Kings are so dominant. Due to the matchup, we get him at a slight discount on DraftKings, so this is a double win. People who think he’s going to come back down to earth at one point are still waiting.
Honourable Mention: Calvin Pickard - EDM
I know this feels like a trap, but I’m still winning to take a chance on Calvin Pickard tonight. He got lit up in his last start in Seattle and the Oilers are still missing their best players, but Calgary is a low-scoring team and they don’t perform very well on the road. This game is probably going to be a low-scoring affair, so that helps our case. I don’t love his elevated price tag, but that will help keep his ownership low. There is a ton of risk here, so use him only in a GPP.
Player Of The Day: Matt Duchene - DAL
There is no shortage of Dallas forwards you can target, but the best bang for your buck is Matt Duchene. He has ten points in his last ten games and has 42 on the road this season. Everyone is going to be paying up for the big boys, and there is nothing wrong with that, but in terms of pure value, Duchene takes the cake. He can be used as a single bullet or as part of a stack in any format.
Honourable Mention: David Pastrnak - BOS
I mentioned Pastrnak before and everything that was said applies here. He’s an expensive option, but his floor is so high. You know what you’re getting with the Boston forward and that is a good thing in cash games. I expect him to hit the shot bonus and find the back of the net, which would be enough for him to hit value.
Value Play Of The Day: Fabian Zetterlund - OTT
Fabian Zetterlund continues to see time on the top line and that keeps him DFS relevant. He’s playing with two players who can really pass the puck, keeping the possibility for him to find the back of the net high. I’d like to see him get more power play time, but beggars can’t be choosers. He’s a good single-bullet option.
Honourable Mention: Jonathan Huberdeau - CGY
Jonathan Huberdeau may not feel like a value play, but he certainly is. He has 12 points in the last ten games and his shot volume over the past five has been higher than usual. I know the Flames can’t score goals, but if they do, Huberdeau will be part of it. He also has 27 goals this season, so it’s not just all assists.
Stack Of The Day -BOS PP1 (David Pastrnak - Morgan Geekie - Mason Lohrei)
We know the Bruins are horrendous, but we can’t just ignore the Red Wings and their abysmal penalty kill. Morgan Geekie and Mason Lohrei are very affordable, so that keeps the overall price tag of this stack low. If the Wings get into penalty trouble, they could be giving up a lot of power play goals.

Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Panthers released TE Jordan Matthews.
Matthews converted to tight end a few years ago and hasn’t made much noise at the position. The change has, however, likely kept him in the league for a few more seasons. He appeared in four games with the Panthers last year but didn’t record any stats on offense. The Panthers also released or waived WR Dax Milne, C Andrew Raym, and TE Colin Granger.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
