NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Monday Playbook
Published: Nov 11, 2024
We have a five-game slate to kick off the week and it's looking like we will have a higher-scoring slate given some of the matchups.
We will also need to find some solid value options considering it's only five games and it's a smaller player pool tonight.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, November 11th
We've seen a lot of scoring from the league's top players and it's making them a near must-play on certain slates – today being one of them.
It's a dangerous game to fade a player who can have three or four NHL points and carry your lineup into the money.
NHL DFS Pick'em Picks On Underdog
- Joel Blomqvist Higher 28.5 Saves
- Cale Makar Higher 1.5 Points
- Andrei Svechnikov Higher 2.5 Shots on Goal
Joel Blomqvist has been confirmed as the starter for the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight and that means one thing, he's going to face a ton of shots. In his seven games this season, he's piled up 26 saves or more in every single game, and been at 29 saves or more in six of them.
The Penguins have not been solid on defense this season and that plays right into the hands of the Dallas Stars, who come in generating 62.04 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fifth-highest in the league.
Cale Makar and the Avalanche should be the prime target for many people tonight and the former Norris Trophy winner continues to pile up the points with 24 in 15 games. This matchup should be all about the over tonight with both teams in the bottom 10 of the league in goals allowed.
This should give Makar plenty of chances to grab a few points, something he has been doing left and right to start the season.
Andrei Svechnikov and the Carolina Hurricanes are taking a ton of shots, a surprise to no one. All jokes aside, this has been the calling card for the Canes in recent seasons and they sit atop the league with 71.70 Total Shot Attempts created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. They keep the pedal to the metal on offense and it has allowed Svechnikov to pile up a team-high 45 shots on goal in 13 games.
NHL DFS Lineup Picks Today, 11/11
Goalie Of The Day: Jake Oettinger - DAL
Jake Oettinger has been a bit up and down this season, but this is a great matchup for him to get back on the right side of things and most importantly, he has a great salary on DraftKings tonight. At only $7.4K, Oettinger should be a very popular option considering most people will be looking to spend up for MacKinnon, who is the play of the slate tonight.
Oettinger and the Stars shouldn't have too much of an issue versus an average offense in the Penguins, who are scoring 2.37 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is 16th in the league.
Play Of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL
Nathan MacKinnon is doing Nathan MacKinnon things with 29 points in 15 games this season, picking up right where he left off last season with a whopping 140 points in 82 games. It's very clear he is the play of the slate given his high level of consistency and the matchup against the Nashville Predators.
The Colorado Avalanche come in with a solid 3.6 implied goal total, which they can certainly hit considering the Predators are allowing 3.24 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league. Add in the fact the Avs have the second-best (34.6%) power play in the NHL and MacKinnon can pile up the points in a hurry.
He is the most expensive player on both FanDuel and DraftKings, but it's worth the salary knowing he can push to 30+ fantasy points.
Value Play Of The Day: Jack Roslovic - CAR
Jack Roslovic looks to be on pace for a career year and comes in with nine goals and one assist through 13 games for the Carolina Hurricanes. His previous career-high is 45 points in 81 games, which looks easy for him to pass at this rate. The Canes have scored the seventh-most (54) goals this season and a player on the top line will always be a good DFS option.
He's still only $4.2K on DraftKings and a top-six role with some time on the second power-play unit is a very clear value option on most nights.
Stack Of The Day: COL L1/PP1 (Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen)
The Colorado Avalanche's top line is looking to be an elite stack tonight, which is also their first power-play unit, giving us that sweet sweet full correlation. It'd be great to add Cale Makar to this stack but it's borderline too expensive and leaves you scraping for value on a smaller slate.
A 3.6 implied goal total for the Avalanche is nothing new for them, as they have seen 10 of their 14 games play to the over. This is also because their defense/goaltending has been so bad this season, but that ultimately creates very strong fantasy-scoring environments.
