NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Predictions Today: Saturday Playbook

Published: Feb 08, 2025
Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! We have another massive 10-game slate on a Saturday night. There are a handful of teams with high team totals, so there are no shortage of options to choose from. Let’s dive into the numbers and see which players we need to keep an eye on.
NHL Pick 'Em At Sleeper Today
Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
Sleeper NHL Picks, Saturday, February 8th:
- Sam Bennett O/2.5 SOG
- Zach Werenski O/3.5 SOG
- Filip Forsberg O/0.5 G
I have no idea why we are getting such a low shot total for Sam Bennett. He’s averaging 4.3 shots per game in the last ten games and he has a great matchup against Ottawa. This is an easy over in my books.
Zach Werenski has come back down to earth over the last few games, but on the season, he’s still a shooting machine. The Rangers are not very good at defending and Werenski is going to get some favourable matchups on home ice. This feels like a risky over, but it’s one worth taking a shot.
The Nashville Predators have been a disappointment all season and that trend will probably continue tonight. That being said, Filip Forsberg is an elite scorer and he does most of his damage on home ice. The Sabres aren’t a very good team and they are going to give Forsberg a ton of chances to find the back of the net.
SALARY CAP DFS
Goalie Of The Day: Darcy Kuemper - LAK
There are two elite goalie options tonight and one is Darcy Kuemper. He’s been fantastic all season and there’s no reason to believe that he can’t put up another strong performance against the Anaheim Ducks. He’s a great cash game option.
Honourable Mention: Jordan Binnington - STL
The second elite option is Jordan Binnington. The Blackhawks are playing the tail end of a back-to-back and they are horrendous offensively, especially on the road. Binnington’s upside might be limited because he won’t see a ton of shots, but like Kuemper, he’s a good cash game option.
Player Of The Day: Filip Forsberg - NSH
We talked about him earlier so now I’m just doubling down on Forsberg. He has 14 goals and 36 points in 25 home games this season. I know it’s a back-to-back spot, but if anything, the Predators will be trailing and Forsberg will see a healthy amount of ice time. His high shot volume also means he can hit value without having to score a goal.
Honorable Mention: Matthew Tkachuk - FLA
Matthew Tkachuk quietly has 10 points in the last five games and gets a matchup against the Ottawa Senators. Florida has some really good offensive forwards that Tkachuk sometimes gets forgotten. Maybe others will forget about him and keep his ownership low.
Value Play Of The Day: Math Duchene - DAL
We haven’t talked about Dallas having a great matchup against the San Jose Sharks. Matt Duchene isn’t the player he once was, but he’s on the second line, seeing time on the top power play unit and flirting with a point-per-game. Despite all this, DraftKings has him at $5800. He’s not the usual value play we try to target, but he can easily exceed value and is great as part of a Dallas PP1 stack.
Honorable Mention: Alex Laferriere - LAK
We know the Kings have a great matchup on paper, but one player in particular is in a fantastic spot. Alex Laferriere is skating on the second line, the top power play unit and has been shooting the puck a ton in his last three games. He scored a goal against Dallas and has points in his last two games. You could spend up for Kevin Fiala or Adrian Kempe, but Laferriere gives us the best bang for our buck.
Stack Of The Day - NSH PP1 (Roman Josi - Filip Forsberg - Jonathan Marchessault)
I’m expecting the Predators to let me down, but I’m also expecting them to come out with a much better performance tonight than they did yesterday. All three of these play together on the top power play unit but they also love to shoot the puck. They’ve also been above-average on home ice, so please, for the love of my NHL DFS lineup, don’t let me down!
