NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/24

Jets vs. Blues Prediction: Thursday, April 24th

Let me start with this, the Jets are the better team and are going to win this series but sweeps are extremely rare and the Blues are better than your typical wild card team. They held their own in Game 2 in a 2-1 loss to the Jets up in Winnipeg and now they return home in what is basically a must win game to avoid going down 3-0 in the series.

The Blues were one of the best teams in the NHL down the stretch and it seems like they found their footing in the last game even though they lost. The sportsbooks seem to agree with my assessment of the game as well as the Blues are just +100 underdogs and the Jets are -120. This means they are expecting a close game and I agree but I give the edge to the Blues as they were 24-14-3 at home this season and Jordan Binnington will be better than he has been without a doubt.

Panthers vs. Lightning Prediction: Thursday, April 24th

Back to well on this series as I was very wrong on Game 1 but I just know this series has 7 games written all over it! The Lightning got punched in the mouth in the first game and nobody looked very good, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy included. The thing about the Lightning under John Cooper though is that in the postseason they rarely lose back to back games.

In fact since the Stanley Cup run in 2020 the Lightning are 22-7 after losses since the COVID-19 bubble playoffs and that's worth noting considering many of the same faces are still on the roster and the goaltender that backed those runs is still between the pipes. Don't get me wrong the Panthers will fight like hell tonight but I give the edge to the home team to bounce back and even the series this evening.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie Of The Day: Jordan Binnington - STL

I don't think many DFS players will have Binnington in their DFS lineup tonight as Anthony Stolarz and Connor Hellebuyck will be the popular options but I am going against the grain. The Jets on the road weren't as lethal on offense as they were at home this season with a drop in scoring from 3.39 goals per game to 3.22 and they are going against a very desperate Blues team. We know Binnington can be the hero as he's done it plenty of times, he knows this is a must win so I am backing him.

Player Of The Day: Nikita Kucherov - TB

If the Lightning are to even the series tonight its going to come on the back of this man, the NHL's regular season points leader! He was rather quiet in Game 1 with just an assist and 2 shots on goal but that is out of the norm for him in these big time games. Over the course of 148 postseason games the super star has 53 goals and 115 assists in his career and if Game 1 is the tempo this series will be played at then the Lightning will have plenty of chances tonight and going forward to post some big numbers.

Value Play Of The Day: Matt Boldy - MIN

At 6.4k maybe he isn't the biggest value out there but considering he already has 3 goals in this series against Vegas and he's not priced up makes me want him in my lineup no matter what. The Golden Knights have proven they will allow odd man rushes and chances on the break and the speed of Boldy has been on full display in that regard. He is mispriced given the production and potential so play him today and don't think twice.
