NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 3/14

Let's end the week of NHL best bets on a high note with some players that bring us plenty of consistency in the prop market!

Utah Hockey Club vs. Kraken Prediction: Friday, March 14th

The Utah Hockey Club has been quietly pushing towards a wild-card spot in the Western Conference, and they have a winnable matchup tonight on the road against the Seattle Kraken. This is where we begin our NHL best bets today.

Over the last two weeks, Utah has been ramping up their offensive pressure and comes in with 68.55 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-highest in the league. Surprisingly, the Kraken actually lead the league over this same stretch with 69.83 Total Shot Attempts Created.

This should set things up for a nice back-and-forth game and while it may not be super high-scoring, the overall volume of chances should be there. Let's turn to Barrett Hayton from Utah, who has over this 2.5 prop in six of the nine games since the 4 Nations break. He's skating on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, which should give him plenty of bites at the apple tonight.

Avalanche vs. Flames Prediction: Friday, March 14th

An elite player in a bounce-back spot? Yes, the usual stuff I look for, and tonight that leads me to Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche against the Calgary Flames

He's coming off a game where he had just two shots on goal, a clear departure for a player who averages over four shots on goal per game.

Tonight, the matchup against the Flames is a favorable one since they've allowed 62.0 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks, which is the seventh-worst in the league. On the flip side, the Avs have generated 61.54 Total Shot Attempts, which is the 11th-best in the league.

As for MacKinnon, he has his usual 47 shots on goal over his last 10 games, hitting at least six shots on goal four different times. MacKinnon is the definition of consistency and tonight he'll do his normal thing against the Flames to cap off our NHL best bets today.
