Dallas Stars vs. New Jersey Devils Predictions
Before the 4-Nations Face-Off break the Devils were really struggling and I’m not sure what a break does for them are they fresh and ready to turn the corner or did they have way too long to stew on their play? I kind of figure it to be the ladder and with a deep squad like Dallas coming in it could be a rusty and slow game for New Jersey tonight. They’ll start Jake Allen again as Jacob Markstrom is still banged up and that’s a minus to me as well with Allen being 9-12 straight up on the season and playing some brutal hockey in 2 of the last 3 games before the break.
On the Stars side they are a side that is focused on the Stanley Cup at this point and while its alueded them thus far they have a very good team and find themselves squarely in the section of contenders when it comes to expected goals for and against. Jake Oettinger should have less rust than most of the NHL in goal tonight as well with his one start in the 4-Nations tournament so give me the Stars as slight underdogs to win this game tonight on the Money Line.
Pick: Dallas Stars Money Line (-105 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Utah Hockey Club vs. Los Angeles Kings Predictions
One constant of the unofficial first half of the NHL season was the Kings ability to play top tier defense on home ice. Will that continue into the crunch time part of the season we will see but for tonight I like their prospects against a Utah team that scores 2.8 goals per game which is in the lower half of the NHL stat standings. The Kings are allowing just 2.14 goals per game on home ice this season, the 2nd best mark in the league and that means that Utah has an uphill battle to get on the board and will have to rely on their defense as well. Luckily, they are allowing just 2.93 goals per game on the road this season and Karel Vejmelka has been as solid as they come this season with a 2.38 GAA and .916 SV% on the road.
I see this game being a slow one on both sides and goals will be at premium all night long. The Kings also rarely stray from their game so they will dictate a lower scoring outcome and with that give me the under tonight at 5.5 goals.
Pick: Utah Hockey Club & Kings Under 5.5 Goals (-115 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Best NHL Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 2/22
