Welcome back from the NHL All-Star break hockey fans! I know there were a couple games last night but tonight is the first big slate back and I can't wait to dive in! As we hit the 2nd half of the NHL season we know the stats and trends and we know now who these teams are and its time to use these things to make big time money! It all starts tonight of course with these 8 games and the picks will include a pair of game totals and and regulation Money Line wager! If you like the rationale then tail the picks, if you don't feel free to fade as sometimes the best bets are the ones not taken!

NHL Best Bets for February 6th

Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights

Call it weird, call it crazy, call it unsustainable, it doesn't matter the Oilers just keep on winning. I am not here to tell you if they will extent their winning streak to 17 games though as its a tough matchup, instead I am going to isolate the reason for the success and cash in that way. As you may have guessed I'm talking about betting the under on the game total tonight because the Oilers have transformed into the one of the leagues best defensive teams over the last 2 months and it shows as they are allowing just 1.3 goals per game on the road over the past month. The Oilers have also gone under the total in 10 straight contests coming into tonight so yea, I love this bet. Mix those numbers with Vegas who is allowing 1.7 goals per game at home the last 30 days and you have yourself a likely defensive struggle and hopefully the teams didn't forget how to lock it down during the break but give me the under for this game tonight.

Pick: Oilers & Golden Knights Under 6.5 Goals (-120 on FanDuel)

Colorado Avalanche at New Jersey Devils

With every pick towards the under there's also an over lurking in an NHL slate and I didn't need to look long to find this one as the stats are glaring! The Avalanche are on the road tonight on the second night of a back to back which means a backup goaltender and tired legs on the blue line. For a team that already allows 3.7 goals per game on the road over the past month that's not a good look! Lucky for the team though is that they score a ton night in and night out and to be exact they have posted 4.2 goals per game on the road the last 30 days. On the home side the Devils have been consistent in their approach to playing hockey this season and that's the offense carrying the load. New Jersey has gone over the total in 15 of 23 homes games this season thanks in large part to their offense that is averaging 3.83 goals per game at home, the most in the NHL but also because of their horrid goaltending situation. I pray for Vitek Vanecek against this Nathan MacKinnon offense tonight with his 3.24 GAA and sub par .886 SV%, its going to be a rough night for him! All that said, take the over tonight and let's watch some great players light the lamp.

Pick: Avalanche & Devils Over 6.5 Goals (-115 on BetMGM)

Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

The Flyers are one of the few teams I have enjoyed picking on this season and its nothing personal, its just about making more dollars and cents! Philly continues to be one of the league's more confounding teams as they operate at a defecit but are still in a playoff spot as it stands today. They are a -1 in goal differential on the season and have lost 5 straight games, maybe things are starting to fall apart at long last and I am here to make some money off the downfall. Over the past month the Flyers are scoring just 2 goals per game while allowing 2.5, close margins but still a negative trend. On the Panthers side they are 14-7-2 on home ice this season and are a +31 in goal differential. Their defense has been a little shaky of late allowing 3.7 goals per game but I don't think the Flyers are good enough to fully exploit that. Anthony Stolarz getting the nod is big in the desicion making of this bet too as he's been the better of the goaltenders lately in Florida with a 2.11 GAA and saving the last 47 of 50 shots faced before the All-Star break. The chalk is too much on the Panthers Money Line though so instead I will be taking Florida to win this one outright in regulation on the 60-minute Money Line.

Pick: Florida Panthers 60-Minute Money Line (-135 on Caesars)
