NHL Injury Report March 12th: Unlucky Knee-action
Published: Mar 12, 2022
Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. The injury report is going to keep you up to date on all the important injuries going on around the league, and how that might affect your fantasy hockey team. Make sure to check back regularly for any updates. Let’s take a look at some players that are either ruled out or that we need to monitor.
Gabriel Landeskog - Colorado Avalanche - Out Indefinitely
Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. He will undergo surgery in the hopes to correct the issue that has been bothering him for some time. This is a huge blow to the team and to fantasy owners who are losing a player that was having himself an exceptional season. If redraft leagues, you can go ahead and drop him. Landeskog finishes the season with 59-points in 51-games.
Patrik Laine - Columbus Blue Jacket - Knee
Patrik Laine left Friday’s game against Minnesota after a knee-on-knee collision in overtime. It’s still too early to know the severity of the injury and the team hasn’t given an update on his condition. For now, he’s considered day-to-day. Columbus is back in action on Sunday, but it’s unlikely we see Laine suit up for that game.
Robby Fabbri - Detroit Red Wings - Knee
It has been a really bad week for players and knee injuries. Robby Fabbri will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a torn ACL on Thursday night. Fabbri isn’t the player he once was, but he was putting together a solid season on a pretty bad hockey team. He should be ready for training camp in September and finishes the season with 30-points in 56-games.
Viktor Arvidsson - Los Angeles Kings - Lower-body
Kings forward Viktor Arvidsson has been placed on IR and is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury. The winger hasn’t played since injuring himself back on March 6th and was placed on IR just a few days later. The injury is serious enough to keep him out of the lineup for a couple of weeks, but the hope is that he can return before the end of the season. In redraft leagues, teams who are still in the hunt for a playoff spot can drop him and look for a replacement on the waiver wire.
Drew Doughty - Los Angeles Kings - Undisclosed
Kings defenceman Drew Doughty has missed the last two games due to injury and is considered day-to-day. He appeared to hurt his hand in Monday’s game against Boston, but the team has refused to confirm that. LA does play on Saturday and Sunday, so the best-case scenario would be that Doughty can return for the last game of the week. For now, just stash him on your bench and wait for another update.
Pavel Buchnevich - St. Louis Blues - Concussion
Pavel Buchnevich has missed the last two games due to a concussion and is still considered day-to-day. He suffered the injury against Ottawa earlier in the week and did not travel with the team to Nashville. He’s still in concussion protocol, so a timeline for his return is still very much unknown. He could return as early as Sunday or be out multiple weeks. For now, fantasy owners need to stash him on their bench and wait for another update. The winger has 46-points in 50-games this season.
