Underdog Fantasy NHL Picks October 12: Jared McCann and the Kraken head to Music City
Welcome into NHL player prop central for the season on Underdog Fantasy! Player props are becoming one of the hottest growing things in hockey over the past few seasons and I have definitely taken notice as it adds yet another layer to a great game experience. Throughout this season you will find picks offered on the Underdog site that I find the most appealing as there are many to choose from so that's why I'm here to help you sift through the options.
For tonight's slate we have 7 games on tap around the NHL and plenty of options for player props! I have highlighted a pair that I will be following tonight that include two top tier players for the New Jersey Devils and Seattle Kraken. We have very little new data to use but at least both of these players have strong track records from last season so let's lean on that and hit some props on Underdog tonight!
NHL Underdog Fantasy Top Picks October 12
Jack Hughes, New Jersey Devils - HIGHER than 4.0 Shots On Goal
Last season Jack Hughes became a household name in NHL circles with his massive season of 43 goals and 99 total points while leading the Devils into the playoffs. I expect much of the same this season if not more as the New Jersey powers that be did nothing but add more to this team around the young star. Hughes put up big games all of last season and this was thanks to his ability to put the puck on net as he averaged 4.2 shots on goal per game. This led to him hitting higher on shot props quite often, 61% of the time to be exact or at least if the line was always 3.5/4 like it is tonight. I don't expect much resistance from the Red Wings tonight either as they allowed 30.44 shots per game last season. Let's go Jacky boy and hit this prop tonight!
Jared McCann, Seattle Kraken - HIGHER than 3.0 Shots On Goal
McCann really came into his own last season for the Seattle Kraken posting 40 goals and 70 points which were both career high marks. This season he has established himself as a top line winger for the young franchise and gets a good matchup tonight against the Nashville Predators who played on Tuesday and allowed 33 shots on goal in a loss to the Lightning. That number is on par with last season too as the Preds allowed over 33 shots on goal per game over 82 games. Enter McCann who has a prop of 3 shots on goal tonight and will be looking to build on his 5 shots from game 1 of this season. McCann has averaged 3.6 shots on goal over his last 30 games played for Seattle, much of that the Stanley Cup Playoffs when things are tighter and it still didn't matter. He hit his prop a whopping 73% of the time at the current line of 3 shots so let's give him a pat on the back and root for it to happen again!
