In the world of free agency, there is never a shortage of revenge games every season, and that’s what we have in Minnesota this Sunday with the Vikings hosting the Atlanta Falcons. Falcons vs. Vikings Predictions For NFL Week 14, Sunday 12/8
After looking as though they were going to take control of the NFC South from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Falcons have now dropped three straight contests. On the flip side of that is the Vikings, who have now won five straight games.
It’s been needed given the juggernaut that is the NFC North, and while they’ve been close victories, wins are wins. They’ve been doing so by shutting down the run game of the opposition, which is why we’re predicting the success or struggle of Falcons RB Bijan Robinson will make or break this matchup.
Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t expand on the aforementioned revenge game, which is Atlanta QB Kirk Cousins heading back to Minnesota to take on his former team.
Atlanta Falcons: Finding Their Way
As stated above, the Falcons have been flopping as of late with three straight losses. However, two of those three losses came by just a few points. Then again, there was also the abysmal 38-6 loss to the Denver Broncos.
That’s why the question heading into this matchup is which Atlanta team we’ll see. In the majority of games they’ve won, they’ve done so in back-and-forth shootout-type games, which is absolutely possible against the Vikings squad. You know that Cousins would love to be a part of one as well given the revenge aspect.
Minnesota Vikings: Separating From The Pack
While the Falcons just need to fly away from another mediocre 6-6 team down in the NFC South, up in the NFC North, it’s a completely opposite situation. There are just five teams with double-digit wins in the NFL, with three of them being in the NFC and two of those being in the NFC North.
So, separating from the pack completely is all but impossible at this point in the season, but Minnesota still has a chance at a division title and stealing the first-round bye in the conference. It’s certainly going to be a tough task given how much they’ve been playing with fire in their close games, but it’s not an impossibility.
Falcons vs. Vikings Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
We’re going to be looking outside the standard markets for the best bet from our Falcons vs. Vikings predictions, but we’ve still got the latest Falcons vs. Vikings odds at FanDuel Sportsbook for you:
- Point Spread: Atlanta Falcons +5 (-110) vs. Minnesota Vikings -5 (-110)
- Money Line: Atlanta Falcons (+185) vs. Minnesota Vikings (-225)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 45.5 (-112) vs. Under 45.5 (-108)
Falcons vs. Vikings Best Bet: Justin Jefferson Anytime TD Scorer (-105 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Perhaps the best place to start with our Falcons vs. Vikings predictions is the most recent note we made - Minnesota playing with fire despite their impressive 10-2 overall record. Their past two wins have come by a single point and a field goal in overtime, so rather than trusting them to cover a point spread, we’re looking elsewhere.
In fact, the Vikes have just one double-digit win since Week 3, but what has been remarkably consistent is, unsurprisingly, WR Justin Jefferson. He’s setting receiving records for players in their first handful of seasons, and that’s even with the new QB this season.
As much as we’d love to play into the storyline of the Cousins’ revenge game, this spot is too valuable to pass up. Atlanta’s run defense is the better unit, not that either has been great, but right off the bat, that means that Minnesota should prioritize the passing game.
In that respect, the Falcons have allowed 21 receiving touchdowns, tied for the sixth-most in the NFL. That’s great news for arguably the best WR in the NFL, and Jefferson is due to find the endzone. After scoring in each of the first four games, he hasn’t scored since Week 6, but now has a fantastic matchup.
It also doesn’t hurt that Jefferson faced the Falcons during his rookie season and went off for nine catches, 166 yards and two touchdowns. Plenty has changed since then, but we’re still locking in the top pick from our Falcons vs. Vikings predictions on Justin Jefferson to score an anytime touchdown (-105 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
Falcons vs. Vikings Injury Report & Latest News
It can be argued that one of the reasons why Cousins was released from Minnesota last season was his Achilles injury, but these days, the Falcons and Vikings have little significant injury news to note. That’s always nice, especially with the history of Atlanta TE Kyle Pitts, but still make sure to keep track of everything with the NFL injury report at Fantasy Alarm.
