Falcons vs. Panthers Predictions For NFL Week 6, Sunday 10/13
The Falcons will have the opportunity to see if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are able to leap-frog them in the division before this matchup against the Panthers is over, but as one of the biggest favorites of Week 6, Atlanta expects to retake the NFC South lead by day’s end. They’ve already been featured in prime time multiple games this season, and for this game, it’s a benefit.
The Falcons last played on Thursday Night Football against the aforementioned Bucs, which means they’ll be heading to Carolina with extra rest. Meanwhile, the Panthers came back down to Earth in a big way following their Week 3 win, most recently falling 36-10 to the Chicago Bears.
So, while we expect Atlanta to get the job done, we’ve got a different approach for the best bet from our Falcons vs. Panthers predictions coming up.
Atlanta Falcons: Time To Be Convincing
Before we get to that best bet - some build up. In fact, one of the reasons that we’re comfortable already telling you that we’re not going to target such a heavy road favorite is due to what we’ve seen from the Falcons thus far.
They may be atop the NFC South, but they have been far from dominant in the process. The recently mentioned TNF game against the Bucs needed overtime for Atlanta to grab the win, and the week prior, they beat the New Orleans Saints with a last-second field goal.
Furthermore, their other win this season came by just a single point! The most recent two were also at home, and they won’t have that luxury this weekend.
Carolina Panthers: 2 QBs = No QB?
While the Falcons may not be dominating, they’re certainly still in a better position than the Panthers. Although not much was expected following their 2-15 season last year, the franchise simply can’t seem to figure out what they want to do.
They benched second-year QB Bryce Young in preference of season veteran Andy Dalton, who went on to lead Carolina to a win. Now two games later, there are question marks surrounding the position again.
Carolina thrust Young into the action at the end of last week’s game, which was head-scratching in itself. At this point, it’s difficult to imagine that he has any self-confidence left.
Falcons vs. Panthers Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
Now that we’ve discussed a bit more about each team, before we dive into the best bet from our Falcons vs. Panthers predictions, you can see the latest Falcons vs. Panthers odds at FanDuel Sportsbook below:
- Point Spread: Atlanta Falcons +6.5 (-102) vs. Carolina Panthers -6.5 (-120)
- Money Line: Atlanta Falcons (-260) vs. Carolina Panthers (+215)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 47.5 (-110) vs. Under 47.5 (-110)
Falcons vs. Panthers Predictions: Under 47.5 Points (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Given what we’ve shared thus far, it likely comes as no surprise as to where we’re headed for the best bet from our Falcons vs. Panthers predictions. Atlanta may very well come away with the victory, but we’d prefer not to deal with a backdoor cover situation.
With Carolina’s QB situation and overall offensive ability outside of the one outlier of Dalton’s first start, we have no reason to believe that we’ll see a high-scoring game. Immediately after teams were able to have film on Dalton running the Panthers offense, it was shut down yet again.
The Panthers scored just 10 and three points in their first two games and posted just 10 points against this past Sunday. Although Atlanta’s defense hasn’t been elite, they don’t need to be in this matchup.
That was on full display when these teams met last season. The most recent meeting was an abysmal 9-7 matchup, and even the one prior had just 34 points scored. Frankly, we’re surprised to see the total listed where it is, so we’ll gladly lock in the best bet from our Falcons vs. Panthers predictions on the under 47.5 points (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
